Futabu 2.4ghz radio gear

Post by hawkeye3guns »

Hi I have been a modellor for about 35 years now and have always scratch built Over the last 5-6 years I have been playing with trucks and tanks I started with a couple of cheap broken heng longs, rebuilt / repaired them and fitted my own radio gear. over the years I have used a company called Mtroniks for all my speed controllers and sound units I am mostly intrested in modern tanks now. I use a futabu 6 channel with a 15 model memory (as I build a new model I just buy a new reciever and add it to the transmitter memory).
In the heng longs I use 2 X 10amp speed controllers for the tracks and a 3amp controller for the turrent rotation it gives me very fine control of the turret. For elevation I use a stardard servo but connected through a small IR giro this then gives in my opion a fairly realistic stability to the gun. For sound Mtroniks due a boat sound unit of a large multi cylinder air start diesel (£59.99 icluding matching 50mm dia speaker) that I have found both in my truck and also in my tanks sounds very realistic when the speaker is placed under the engine hood / deck. The beauty of these units for me is the fact that they are 100% waterproof and that provided the reciever is sealed you can go almost any where.i(f you go on their web site you can listen to all their engine sounds before you buya unit)
I do not know if this info is any help to any one.
ps futabo sell a self centering kit foe their transmitters and it is a doddle to fit takes about 10 minutes with a small screwdriver
regards Denzil
opp's you said get off the road
