Over heating board and no sound

Post by MAG1944 »

Hello everyone.
Iv recently had time to get my tiger 1 out and do some work on it. the first time i ran it i found that the sound had stopped working. Iv tried all the obvious things, turning on/off, checking volume is turned up, re-seated the connections and the checked the solder joins to the speaker and the volume control.
Will poking around with the tank turned on i noticed the board was getting hot, so hot that part of the plastic case was melting.
Once i removed the case i found it wasn't the FET's but the large resistor that sits on one side, from its code its a 10 ohm and sits next to the socket for the smoker switch.
I dont know what has caused this but i'm wondering if this has some how responsible for the loose of sound.
Is their anything i can do or is it a case of buying anew board for it.

Thanks every one
