Re: kv1 /sherman 76mm gun ?
Good Morning,
I read that along with wet storage for ammunition, this 'up gunned' Sherman had the long tube 76mm. The extra Gun tube length was supposed to offer slightly higher velocity and a truer flight. Everyone here will know that only the British up gunned Firefly or a Tank Destroyer with the 3" had much of a chance against the armor that the Panzer divisions were fielding at that moment in History. Having said all this, I love my Mato Sherman. It is the first large scale Sherman that I have and the attention to detail is splendid.

Cannedheat
The kv1 barrel you saw on my tank is the upgraded metal version available from welsh dragon models so would expect that to be correct.
I would guess and say because the kv1 is short it will have thinner walls and Sherman with long has thicker walls therefore given appearance of larger diameter.

Re: kv1 /sherman 76mm gun ?
Good Morning,
I haven't seen any flaking paint yet and I've put some time into wearing the treads down on this Sherman with travel on various terrains. One of the first things I do, like you, is get rid of the shine on the plastics and use a dullcoat spray once any added bits are on the tank. Maybe that has kept anything from happening with the sprockets\idlers? I like my armor factory fresh or with minimal road dust kickup. As for the gun tube, This Sherman is an Airsoft version and I have noticed that the tubes on those are thicker overall as the plastic has to cover the metal barrel beneath. Any similarities on tanks with IR and recoil _and_ Airsoft is probably because the factory is saving money and using the same barrel for both types instead of a more accurate scale barrel for the IR version.
regards, CH
