Heavy Metal Noob

Post by imthatguy »

Hi folks,

My name's Matthew and I've been into scale building for some time now, though never touched a military kit. I've been primarily into 1:10th scale radio control 4x4's. Toyota's, Land Rover's, etc. I've always appreciated the detail work and getting as close to 1:1 as possible, so naturally the idea of a tank kit was definitely appealing.

This forum has a wealth of knowledge and I'm very excited to delve into it. For my first build, I'm going for the Tamiya Leo 1A4 and plan on converting it to a C1. Seeing that I'm Canadian, and born in '77, it seemed like a good fit. I've done some limited research already, and I think the K11 conversion kit is likely the way to go for getting this older model kit to RC. If I'm off in that assumption, please let me know.

Finally, here's a few photos of some of the scale truck builds I've done, enjoy!

Welcome to the forum Matt. Great looking 4x4's, especially the jeep. Great choice on you first build, if you need any close-up shots of the Leo 1 drop me a request, there's a squadrons worth two buildings down from me. Enjoy...

Gday Matthew good work mate I like the Volvo c303 in particular. If you have any pic from the build you should do a build thred on that . look fowrd to seing you post on the Tamiya Leo. And when you say ( K11 conversion kit is likely ) are you talking about a 1/35 covertion to rc ? anyway welcome to the forum

Mathew welcome to the forum, I was amazed when you said you were embarking upon the Leo as your build, whatevers the matter with you, everyone starts with a Tiger 1, no good will come from originality such as this. seriously, what a relief, keep us up to date with it and of course any questions ASK, we like questions, it allows us to show our collective knowledge. enjoy, as though you need to be told. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
