Howdy do :)

Post by 88reaper88 »

Hi all,

I'm Simon, 25 from Lancashire (born and raised on the Wirral).
I've been a fan of R/C tanks ever since I was sprayed with water by one at the War and Peace Show about ten years ago.
The nearest to actually owning one has been the cheap 1:16 M1A1 Abrams, not great buy still a good laugh.

I mainly make static models and replica movie props but I've decided to produce something that can move for a change ;)
I'm slowly getting all the information together to build a M48A3 'Patton' in 1:6 scale, as of yet I've found very little info but hopefully I can find more on your forum.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys give me :)

Regards,
Simon, aka 88Reaper88 (Reaper is fine too) ;)

Hallo Simon, Welcome to the Forum, I do not want to start by saying goodbye but there is a forum that deals mainly with 1/6 scale it is called 6 Army Group and you will find a lot of builds on the site, I go their because it gives me the detail I would not be able to find when scratch building my 1/16. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum ! We had a scratched built 1/6 M48 a3 Tank at our monthly meet in Hyde Manchester!! We meet at our indoor building every third Sunday of the month! We have an outside area as well! Now the 1/6 M48 we had at our meet was built by a chap called Ian Gallagher! He said he basically got a 1/35 scale model and up scaled it to 1/6 He is on utube! He has the moulds for the turret and the upper hull! The lower hull he made from steel hope that helps a bit!

Thanks allot chaps and chapettes :)

I'll check out that other forum, thanks for the info.

I've contacted Ian via YouTube but he hasn't replied, it's been a while so I guess I can forget that route!

I've drawn up the track links and I'm awaiting some quotes for 3D printing. I plan to mould and cast the tracks using the 3D printed versions.
I'll start a build thread asap :)

Thanks again
