free french sherman

free french sherman

Hi, I am working on a Hl Sherman which I must say is a good tank . Any way my question is would a free french sherman 105mm have US K rations and equipment carried on it ? also if you have any photos that may help me with this could you please post them.Many thanks

I think the answer is technically no........ possibly yes. .... Short answer is its your tank .... any addition / upgrade is a good one

If you join one of the dedicated WW2 forums , im sure you will get the correct answer , K rations were part of the USA logistical supply chain ,
" Compo rations " were the term described for the British Army food supply chain , from reading a few books on British tankers in WW2
it seems that on occation German ration's were issued to them when their positions were overrun, so any thing is possible regarding the
source of rations in those hectic times .

I would suspect that they would have utilized American rations, they were supplied by the American forces, from uniforms to weaponry, so rations I don't believe would be out of the question to their scale of issue. The wine and cheese, well that was probably Local Purchased. Just my two cents...

local purchased ! I agree for most tankers it would've been what's available locally to GO with your rations, k whatever allies ate what they could !
