Torro T-34/85

Post by macnjam »

Greetings from Atlanta, Georgia USA.

I am a "lurker" on this board and this is my first post. The amount of information here has been invaluable. I especially enjoyed seeing the lengthy build progress of the Kelly's Hero's Sherman, Duel in the Mist Panther and other tanks. I wish I had that level of skill!

Here are a few pictures of a Torro/WSN T-34 I purchased from Welsh Dragon (great service to USA). I gutted the battery box, re-enforced hull with plasticard and brass tubing. It has a tk22 board with servo recoil. It is setup for a Tamiya battle unit and the infrared transmitter is in the mantlet. It has a HL high intensity flash unit. I will followup with a video of that. The figure is by Peter of Precision Panzer.

Great job! Really like the figure with the flag! Just gives an added touch! I have one of these waiting in the wings to be "modified" Would appreciate more info on your reinforcement. I am looking at different ideas for this. I am an old plastic modeller who is just starting on this path so I too scour the forums for ideas.
Thanks for not lurking anymore :D

Thanks! I used plasticard on the length of the bottom hull and inside the hull. I leveled out the screw holes and made a platform to support the battery and electronics. I used three brass tubes from side to side to provide rigidity. All of this is re-enforced with millput. The hull attaches with magnets and I used the screw holes with those little brass thingies for servos. The fit male/female and kinda snap in. This made the top secure but easily removable. Fyi it uses stock turret elevation and rotation units with servo recoil.

I will next upgrade the gearbox at some point. At least for me these projects never seem to ever be completed..

Thanks joe!

I hear ya! I am just getting into this hobby after a long absence and I can see it never ends! LOL! You can check out my current build Old Modeller New RC KT build. I think it is right under yours in topics with replies. I am going to convert the WSN I have to HL RX18 electronics when I get to it. It is next after the KT!

Here is a link to a short video as promised. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq_gg8J4xGI

Note the Tk22 board installed at the moment is the German version, so those are maybach engine sounds. My Russian version had to go back to clark. It is on the way back from Taiwan now... Clark provides GREAT SUPPORT!

Dean, I will check out your KT build.
