Upgraded motors

Hello all

Can anyone recommend and upgraded gearbox motors at all?

I have an Asiatam 3:1 gearbox coming for my Taigen King Tiger (Thank you Welshdragon for your patience in my flapping about via email), but really like the sound a 5 pole motor as found in the new Walterson gearboxes. I'm a bit worried by the brass gears, so prefer steel. I would like to put 5 pole motor to them still though.

For a king Tiger you can easily fit the a 480 motor in that tank, that will gives lots of everything you need regardless of who's gearbox you use.
the 480 motors can be put on all the gearboxes and with a standard 2.3mm shaft it is easy to find pinions to get them to work.

Do you need to put a 480 motor on it? I heard the power that comes with the Walterson you might not need a more powerful motor? I have the Taigen Tiger metal lower half....but you already know that Freaky ha. Will be sending you my order soon for Walterson. Hope you go tmy plate...

I'd like it to be able to have a lot of pulling power and not have to worry about the terrain. I'll be putting a metal lower hull in to the equation to harness it

More power is good but does mean more strain on the tracks and idle wheels. I managed to split metal tracks and even ripped an idle wheel metal tensioner on my tiger.

But that aside my heavy tiger with 480 motors will go up almost vertical slopes if ut can get the traction.

Even with a metal hull?? I have my eyes on this, hopefully it will stand up to the job.

I chose it as it seems nice and simple without having to cut anything up etc to make it fit.

I am liking the sound of near verticle, that's a lot of pull!

A little bit off topic. This morning I found a Tamiya Torque tuned motor. The joys of running a single 540. Should be interesting how it performs.
