Hi, I am new to this forum and I have spent some time looking for an answer but could not find anything.
I recently fitted the Taigen 2.4Ghz R/C to my Heng Long Tiger. The problem is that the LED machine gun is wired to pins 6 and 8 of the main turret connecter and the gun does not now flash. With the RX18 the LED was wired with the driving lights which flashed in sync with the gun. Using the Taigen the front lights do not flash.
Does anyone know how to fix this small problem?
Also is it possible to reinstate the tank recoil when main gun is fired?
(The tank is standard with no IR battle thingy)
All the best
Phil

Re: Hull LED machine gun wiring with Taigen 2.4Ghz
Phil,
Taigen has the same wiring as RX-18 so I am not too sure why your MG LED is not working. It shares the same POS+ with the headlight, and it should be like you said wired to pin 6/8 of the hull connector (You do mean the hull connector, right ? because if you don't have IR right now, you won't have an 8 pin turret connector). Make sure you have the POS+/NEG- hook up correctly also and that might be your problem.
You can activate the track recoil, but you will need something to trigger the Taigen MFU. With the Airsoft BB, I am not too sure how you would do that (maybe tap the BB trigger onto PIN 4/5 of the second 5 pin connector on the Taigen MFU, which is the track recoil trigger ?)
If you meant barrel recoil with BB, there is no readily available solution to do that right now although there is some talk of a BB recoil and a video of it posted somewhere in the forum.
Michael.

Re: Hull LED machine gun wiring with Taigen 2.4Ghz
Hi Michael, many thanks for your response.
I don't have IR but the 8 pin socket is mounted under the turret on the upper hull and connects to the Taigen MFU with a 8 pin wire plug/plug connector, (this is plugged into the upper hull 8P on the MPU).
You mention pos/neg hook up, do you mean the LED MG wires to the 8P upper hull socket?
On the original setup using the RX18, when the MG button was activated the headlights flashed as well. Using the Taigen the headlights do not flash therefore the MG LED does not flash although the firing sound is ok.
Re the track recoil I am not using the MFU IR port 2 or the M Q Fire 3. Which wires are the BB trigger?
Sorry re confusion but I did not mean barrel recoil as I do not have it.

Phil,
You will need this if you don't have it already:

I have never done this before as all mines are IR, but in theory, the trigger of the BB is PIN 3(-)/5(+) on the 8 PIN board under the upper hull, and the trigger for the track recoil is PIN 4(+)/5(-) pin on the MQ Fire 3 on the Taigen MFU. If you are handy enough and have a voltmeter you can see what the voltage is from the trigger of the BB and it should also trigger the track recoil if they are hook up BUT like I said, I am just going by general knowledge here and definitely don't want you to fry your Taigen MFU doing this so if anyone has any experience I would be more than happy to be corrected.
Funny enough I had the same problem when I converted my Matorro/Heng Feng King Tiger/JadgTiger over to RX-18/Taigen. The headlight would flash at the same time as the MG when I fire the MG. If you are leaving the wiring stock, I think I basically tried different combination on PIN 6/7/8 on the upper hull 8 PIN board until it works. In theory if you wire it according to the diagram it should work properly. It does sound like you have the POS/NEG reverse and that's why nothing is working. Don't forget that they share a POS on PIN 6, so if you got them mixed up, they will both work or not work together.

Definitely a pin problem - non of my tanks with RX18 flash the headlights with the machine gun so I think you have positive and negative swapped round somewhere, remember the switch is in the return cable, they share a common feed but are switched separately in the return cable.

Re: Hull LED machine gun wiring with Taigen 2.4Ghz
Hi guys, many thanks for your comments.
The wiring diagram is a great help. I will have a play with the voltmeter to see what is going on but all looks ok visually. The LED M/Gun has 2 red/yellow coloured wires. I naturally assume the red is +ve and this is connected to pin 6. The yellow is connected to pin 8. The other wires on the 8 pin socket connector have not been modified and are stock, I will have to remove the connector socket to check all wires go to where they should go.
As I said the M/Gun LED worked ok with the RX18 and the headlights flashed in unison. With the Taigen on operating the MG fire button the LED does not work but the headlights stay on without flashing!

Phil,
Obviously you don't want the headlight flashing at unison with your MG........ Don't trust the colour of the wires. It usually has nothing to do with +/- and more to do with what wire the guy has around him when the poor soul is putting this thing together. If the leads is still on the MG, the longer pin on the MG should be the POS. Is one of the lead from the headlight also connected to PIN 6 ? If not then you obviously have a problem. The headlight, if it is working, should be connected to Pin 6/7.
Try just flipping the two connection on the MG PIN 6/8 and see if that works. It won't kill the MG LED. Also make sure that the MG leads are not touching/shorting. Sometimes that could be the issue when you fuss around with the electronics.
