panther g, gun elevation problems

Post by lister fiend »

hello all,
ive just recieved my brand new heng long panther g & the gun will not elevate or lower.
thinking this would be easy to fix, ive taken her apart & am needing some help
as its a different configuration to all the other ones i've seen.
Image
the motor works but the pin on the cam doesn't quite reach the airsoft unit
and i can't see anything its supposed to connect to, is there a bit missing?
also there isn't a spring on top of it either, should there be?
i borrowed one from my pershing but it's too long & although it has a recess in the gun unit, theres no locator on the turret.
Image
i bought this tank in november & they sent back a new one with the same fault 7 weeks later :wtf: :-<
so i'm not sending it back again.
so if anyones got any ideas or if they can show me what it's supposed to look like i'd be grateful.
thanks in advance

Hi Lister

I had this problem when I tripped over my Panther & damaged the gun, the plastic cam pin sitsin the 2 grooves on the airsoft unit, I broke mine but repaired it with the fibreglass matting they use on model boats. If the pin is 2 short then I would suggest som carbon fibre tube to place over the original to extend it

The spring sits on top of the airsoft unit & halps the cam to elevate the gun

Hope this helps

Simon

thanks simon, that sort of helps :D
i'm not seeing any grooves though :(
ive lashed it up by puting a pin in the end of the cam, laying underneath so the gun will depress
with an elastic band to help lift it.
not ideal but it works for now :shifty:
cheers

Looking at those photo's it looks like your BB unit and elevation units do not match up, I can see the lever on the end of the BB unit that normally fits with the type of cam that is placed behind the BB unit on tanks like the tiger etc and they have a spring between the BB unit and top of the turret so the cam lowers the barrel and the spring pushes it back up as the cam revolves.
As Simon mentioned he has groves on the side of his unit which you do not appear to have so there's a mis-match somewhere.

Thanks jonger
Your spot on there.
I've just looked at a stug recoil unit
On eBay & can clearly see the two
Grooves that its ment to sit in.
Oh well I guess I could glue a couple
Of runners on but I'll wait & see
How long the rubber band bodge
Lasts for.
Cheers
