Any information on the Taigen M26 Pershing?

Post by JTFN »

I recently got a Taigen Tiger I and I was VERY satisfied with it. I have been searching around and I found a Taigen M26 on numerous websites. The only problem is, the features list on each site is the same (and somewhat vague):

-Hand painted finish - each tank is unique!
-Built in realistic smoke generator
-Full metal tracks and gearbox
-Super chassis, realistic suspension system, rubber covered wheels, pre-assembled tracks
-Each radio controlled tank can be changed between 3 separate frequencies so up to 3 tanks can battle at once
-R/C battle tank max firing range of motor air gun approx 50 ft. (with Hop-up System)
-Automatic electric gun system installed, perfect actions radio control battle tank
-Forward, reverse, regular turning, pivot turning, turret turning, recoil action and 88mm barrel moves up & down
-A realistic commander is equipped to enable this monster machine to run with full action
-Rechargeable Battery and Charger

Now for the questions.
1. What is the definition of a "super chassis?" Is this a full metal hull as seen on the Taigen Tiger I or simply a strengthened plastic hull?
2. Are the sprockets, idlers, and road wheels metal like the ones on the Taigen Tiger I or plastic? I like to drive my model tanks in the snow so this makes a big difference to me.
3. Are the movable hatches and parts metal like the Taigen Tiger I or just plastic? I don't like the risk of breaking a hatch when I open it.

Thank you for reading and any response is welcome.

Also as an additional note: I do not want to go with Tamiya because their models are a little overpriced, and in my opinion the small differences between the Taigen and Tamiya tanks are not worth the $500+ price difference.

I don't think it has a metal chassis as I don't think anyone makes one for the heng long or taigen tanks.

I thought the taigen Pershing was basically a better painted heng long Pershing with metal gearboxes and tracks.

Alright, thanks. Do you know whether the road wheels and idlers are plastic or metal, or if it even matters? Also, does it really even matter whether the chassis is metal or plastic, as with the road wheels?

Thanks again for the reply

I'm not aware of metal wheels been available so again expect this taigen to have the plastic. Regarding chassis I don't think it matters been metal, my Pershing is plastic and the chassis seems very rigid. Ive got a metal chassis tiger and kv1 I wouldn't say either make ride worth the extra cost and weight, although nice to have metal wheels on the tiger.

No I believe the ones from rctank.de are custom made so probably better quality ie the mention of HQ tracks.

Do you know if the "HQ Metal Tracks" label means anything? If that's the case, do you by any chance know of an American store with these upgrades, or will the regular Taigen M26 [that I have already seen on many American stores] be good enough?

Thanks again

*EDIT* I ordered a Taigen M26 from themotorpool.net for only $215.00 (after an after Christmas 15% off sale). At that low of a price I can deal with the possibility of no-"HQ" metal tracks. No need for any replies. I'll take some pics and list the specs on a new thread when it arrives to let other people know what it is for sure.

Sure looks like a HL m26 with stock metal tracks and gearboxes and a little airbrushing done to it. They may have added the proportional smoker. the muzzle flash they mention is the hull machine gun not the main gun.
I have 2 of them with rx 18 mfus. One with reduction gear set and corrrect aftermarket tracks that I built into a ww2 version and the other left as the Korean war version which is what I think you will get.
