If he has always wanted a Tamiya, get him a Tamiya, otherwise he will be dissapointed.
hunt around the web for suppliers and find out if he likes ww2 or modern armour.

Welcome, I hate to say it but if he wants a tamiya tank, he will most likely be disapointed with a Heng Long tank. The best advice I can give you is to buy the tank through the Danville tank museum....here is the link...
http://shop.aaftankmuseum.com/searchres ... p?cat=1838
there prices are about as good as it gets and there service is great. As you can see, the sherman is the cheepest at just over 500 and the m26 is is just under 600....if he wants a german tank, well thats 630 for the tiger kit....
Now for the small print....tamiya's are not ready to run, they are model kits....they will need a transmitter, receiver and if you man wants to inferred battle with other tanks, he will need a battle system also...thats about 200 extra depending on what he wants.....you could just get him the kit and he could get the other stuff later.
I noted the battle system above, there are clubs( one right here in NJ... if you are in the usa) that hold battles with these tanks....kinda a robot lazer tag....If your man wants to get into this, check out this link....Its the club I am in called NEAD...

The reason I bring this up is if your husband want to do this, My advice is to ether get the American M26 pershing or the German panther tank, they are the best fighters imo.
Now there are other options for tamiya.....get one that is already built by someone on ebay but I do not recomend this for a couple reasons, 1) you have no idea is the guy that built it knew what he was doing. 2) shipping a built tank is much much harder than you would think, many a tanker has received a pre built tank that was not packed right and was beat to heck in the mail....no fun.
Another option is to buy a tank localy from a tanker....many of the Nj tankers hang out over here...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_369/tt.htm
or you could intrduce yourself on the NEAD site.....I know for a fact that Bob ( THECOMANDER) has some tanks to sell, he is the leader of our club had has many many many many tanks( he is always buying and selling them through his connections in the hobby)....a good guy to know....
Hope that helps, any thing else I can help with, let me know......

Do I get the 1-Silver Tiger? 2-the limited edition early premire Tiger? or 3- the M4 ? I need some opinions. My husband loves to put kits together. He does it all the time. In fact he has 9 unopened RC car & Truck kits still to open and do. But he has always wanted a tank. So this is where I need your help.

Re: Women in desperate help for info!
The purshing is not the easiest tank to build but it is the great fighter if you do it right..there are 2 tricks...1) the turret ring( the gear) is not well marked on witch side is front and witch side is toward the rear.....if you really spend time reading the directions...you can get it right.....2) the wires that go up to the turret need to be twisted so they are coiled like a snake so they will not foul while the turret is turning....its trickie but once right it is a great tank....I have been the last man staning many times at danville Va....What danville?.....Meca for rc tank fighters....here are a couple vids...

the last one is Bob That I told you about.....Tought fighter....only guy that I hate to fight....
Ok...the tiger is a ok tank...a little slow but a good tank. If your Hubby wants to fight, shermans are a tough start...why you may ask....simple, they are considered medium tanks....what does tha mean?....with the tamiya battle system tanks of different classes have differnt limits...what does that mean?....tanks with more armor can take more hit, tanks with bigger guns take longer to reload( big "bullets")....what does this mean?....simple...here is the tamiya standard....
lite tanks.....takes 3 hits to kill, takes 3 seconds to reload
medium tanks....takes 5 hits to kill, and 5 seconds to reload
heavy tanks........takes 9 hits to kill and 9 seconds to reload..............to make matters worse...after a given numbers of hits, your tank slows down.....and every hit slows the tank down more to simulate battle damage...near the end, your tank just crawls around....
I do not recomend a medium tank for anyone that is just getting into the hobby( like the sherman)...5 hits and you are out.....no fun...shermans also have a bad habbit of rolling over....very top heavy.....if you want to be a "player" and not have the purshing( m26) or get the panther....imo
i live in westwood nj(usa), that is only like 40 miles from you....if you hubby has any problems putting the tank togather, let me know and if i can not help,or I will get someone that can...
again, hope that helps.........

Check out E bay north america ,rc tanks and military vehicles. If you havent already gotten him something there are alot of full option tymaya 1/16 tank kits of the sherman that can be had for reasonable prices but remember that they do not come with the rc transmitter and most will require you to have a pay pal account to pay for them
