Asiatam Stug Schurzen

Post by Tankie »

Just been fitting the Asiatam Schurzen on my Stug and all I can say is you need a lot of patience and a soundproof room so your wife can't hear you swearing.

You need to do a lot of trial and error, adjusting, filing and packing out to get a good fit.

The finished article is worth it, though

Is this the one for the Stug III or Stug IV ? I just install the one for Stug III and it doesn't seem to look right. Too far out and too high. Need to figure out what to do.

Stug III. I think you may be right about it being too far out & too high. The cast metal is too hard to bend or modify. Re-making the brackets is all that could be done. I won't bother though!

I got used to mine too. Oh well. At least it is sturdy. Much better than the plastic ones I have to say (I have the plastic ones for my Panzer IV).

i found the asiatam stug 3 schurzen, a pain to get to fit then it didnt look right to me, then i go and knock it as i put it back on the shelf :{ and the top brackets on one side fell to bits so the rest came off in a fit off fury :-< and now rests in my spares box, some times i think plastic is easy to work with,

I made this one out of plasticard for my Stug a few years back it looked good but if you drove the tank into anything it would fall off @) Drove me potty I ended up selling the tank.

I finally got sick of how the Asiatam ones are so far away from the tank that they can practically be use as wings. Rip it all apart and basically refitted it much closer to the fender and it looks much better, but now I actually have to finish painting the sucker. I have the waffle style zimmerit on the skirt as well as the hull, and I am thinking of thin line of green and red brown on a base dark yellow. Any advice ? should the camo be on the hull as well as the skirt ? What about continuity ? Should the camo follow from the skirt onto the hull, or should I do them separately ? Do they even have to be the same style ?

I am also worry about bleeding on the zimmerit if I do it too fine. I will have to test it out first on the air brush setting.

Can't seem to find good references on Google or on my small collection of reference books.
