360 turret rotation
Having seen modifications to allow the turret to rotate 360 degrees using an anti twist phone cable adapter I thought this might be a useful link for anone thinking of giving it a go.

Hi folks,
Good news:
http://uk.farnell.com/pro-signal/31015/telephone-untangler/dp/1013232?_requestid=217041
NB the above is RoHS-compliant (health and safety - no lead etc)
http://uk.farnell.com/pro-signal/31015/telephone-untangler/dp/1013232?_requestid=217041
NB Only 2 left in stock of the part with lead in it!
Bad news:
Not if you want just 1
! As postage is not cheap!
Of course guys, I just count how many times I've turned my turret and 'un-turn' it later!!
@Tony, regarding that voltage-dropper we talked about a few days ago. It is the LM317T that I showed you, which I have lots of.
Unfortunately I don't have the rest of the necessary bits!! If you're really keen we could put an order together for Farnell.....

Re: 360 turret rotation
Well I got my anti tangle phone adapter, it all went together ok, needed to alter the end of the adapter slightly so I cound solder onto the contacts, mounted it on the end of the battery box using epoxy, needed to slightly file down the edge of the battery box so the adapter sat slightly lower as on full elivation the BB unit cought it when rotating the turret. I used a piece from a phone handset lead and utilised the original Heng Long small conector board fastening it onto the turret ring gear screw and zip tied the end of the curly lead to the ring gear to prevent stress on the soldered joints, found it was best to burn the sleeve from the inner cores of the curly lead as they are braid wrapped around silk and are a pig to strip normally, I have shortened the lead since the photo as you really dont need that much, about 4 - 5 'curls ' is all thats needed . it all works ok, it fits well into the Tiger and the adapter is nearly on the centre line of the turret so turns well. I did have a quick look at my Panzer III but I think its a little too tight for space to use this adapter.

Re: 360 turret rotation
Hi folks,
I had a look around in all the cheap shops in town today, but couldn't find any of these apart from the rip-off Maplin one. I'll have a look around the cheap shops near where I work this week. Hopefully one of us will find a cheap source of them not requiring postage!!
The one in Maplins had a very long rectangular section, that could be shortened quite considerably without detriment I think.
Whilst I rarely have the tangled-cable problem, it would be good to be able to simply plug the turret cable in and out.
Having said that I have used veroboard, 0.1inch pitch pins and the 8-way cable from blown HL boards to make a few of my turrets pluggable.
The benefit of having all 8 pins is that you can pass the MG signal to an LED in the turret.
