HL Tiger 1 barrel recoil

Post by emmasdad »

Guys please forgive me if this has been asked elsewhere............ I have tried to find it, honest!!!!!!

Recently purchased the above smoke and sound tank, my question is should the barrel recoil???? the tank does a rather ridiculous jerking dance that looks dreadful but the barrel stays put..... any ideas.

Take care Gary

Hi Gary

If it is a BB shooting version no doesn't recoil. But if an IR version then yes it should.

Also there is a red switch under one of the turret hatches which I think needs to be ON also for it to work.

Yeah it is possible to convert it.

Need metal barrel and muzzle brake plus a recoil unit. Best check out Welsh dragon models as Steve sells all the bits. You'll loose the BB shooting but tbh I didn't miss it anyway. And still have the silly track recoil.

There is a mod for the Asiatam control arms where they are tapped to 3.5 mm x 1.00 and a shoulder bolt is used for the axles, but it is an older Modification and may not suit the wheel hub diameter.

The results are a solid axle with zero end play,if you do not intend to add more weight then it may not be worth the trouble?

If curious the thread can be found using the search option. Are you considering a certain version Tiger,or unit possibly? The Alan Hamby site is a great place for all things Tiger.

Thank you Saxondog, fantastic link..... as for the mod well think ill try and keep it simple, but thanks for the info. Version will be late with zimmerit, steel rimmed wheels. As for unit Im not that clued up. I would like her to be predominantly light grey in colour....... sounds a bit girly i know but not skilled enough to do camouflage yet. Any ideas from the "shop floor" please lads.

This may help, the link is the first painting and weathering post, some pictures may be missing but the thread has excellent advice from OZ as he trained me and Steiner on painting and weathering.

The first Tigers were in gray this changed mid 1943,But I started much like you with a basic gray color, some advice use Tamiya Paints as their water based and easy to use.Or any acrylics All the best.

My first tank Heng Long Tiger with Asiatam Lower hull and WSN Tiger early rubber lined road wheels

Thanks but my talent came from some really skilled guys on this forum doing for me exactly what I have done for you, showing me the way. OZ is a very skilled modeler and I was fortunate to be able to benefit from his experience. Their are many others here as well, and that is one of the main reasons this forum is successful.

Sharing,no elite class here, their are Masters no doubt, but they give back so much of that talent that some forums seem to see as a special class not to be shared, not here as evidenced by the ranking system.

If I may be of further assistance I am available most days. If you post in a thread I have posted in or PM me I will receive and on screen alert and contact you within 24hrs. If you intend to Paint your Tiger and wish to go with the early Gray the Tamiya Panzer gray is close, although like most things it is debated. But the ghosting technique that Oz demonstrated does result in a fine looking finished Tiger and is not that complicated to apply.

Now the weathering and washes. These techniques are just being sampled by me and I have a long way to go.

enjoy the forum,cheers
