hi all

Post by doc larsson »

dear all

i've recently got in to rc tanks. as a kid i use to build a great many static models. Now i have some money to spare i've bought two heng long tanks, a tiger 1 and panther (with tiger running gear and gun oops). I'm looking for advice on how to get the upper hull off both. I've been told that you need to be careful as you may unscrew the running gear. For the panther i've bought a sheet of plastic that i want to mould into a proper shaped panther either a d or g model, probably the d version so i need to get into the front hull to remove the oversized machine gun cupola and re-sight the front light to its central position. Also the gun works but doesn't fire ant where near the distance the tiger shoots. \as for the tiger, it is the smoking version but that doesn't work. I believe the problem may lie inside ! I have also ordered a zimmerit kit so i need to detach all the stuff at the rear to attach rear zimmerit.
I've always been into tanks and ww2 aircraft and really enjoy painting/weathering etc. I also enjoy online gaming and am currently playing a game called ARMA 2 on line with a clan called 527th. Looking forward to meeting you all and hope to get a good education on modelling.

Welcome Doc,

As panzerschreck said, this is by far the best forum out there in the RC Tank world. For info on the HL line of tanks, just check the search forum. As for removing the upper hull from the lower, just remove a series of screws and carefully disconnect the electronic connectors. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum Doc,

To remove the Tiger top.
Remove the tracks. I normal roll them round and slight pull at the idler and the teeth will ride over until loose.
under the left side there are 3 screws (front, middle, back) you need to get screwdriver between the wheels for access.
On the other side there is 5 screws, just remove the ones which are in line as the left. The extra two hold the speaker in place.
On the top the four black plastic pipes for the air cleaners need removing from the elbows near the exhaust
back underneath, at the front in centre another screw, then two more right at back near battery release clip.
And that's it!

I normally leave the ones near the tracks out and just use the three underneath, as this saves removing the tracks everytime you need to open her up.

Can't help with the panther.

Ian.

Another way to remove the tracks is by removing the drive sprocket. Remove hub cap then allen key to unscrew and pull it off with the tracks.
