Eastern Front wrote:Nice detail, getting closer to the paint 8O But then, what will you do when the painting, weathering is all done? you need a Tiger :haha:

Cheers!
Hi Eastern Front,

you lie not really wrong; I'm sure, that I will build sometime a second Tiger 1 and also a second Tiger 2. My Tiger 1 was at that time also my personal Initial Tiger; my first rc vehicle at all and after over 30 years also my first model that I've built.
So I had to learn and meanwhile I see some things with other eyes and would some things make different. We will see what I will do...

many regards

dgsselkirk wrote:Absolutely spectacular... funny in a way it will be a shame to see all the custom detail work covered with paint! When finished this will belong in a museum my friend!
Hi dgsselkirk,

do you mean your museum? :haha:
With the paint you're right; it's like a bit some girls; on a fine nice face a thick layer makeup and so it will look like the mass...

many regards

If you would like to donate..... :haha:

Please promise thin coats of paint and not too heavy on the weathering for this paticular one. Just for fun now that you are at the paint stage how many hours do you think you spent getting it to this stage. I know TOO many but realistically if you please.

Hi dgsselkirk,

donate? not really... :haha:
Exactly I can't say how many hours I've worked at my Panther. Started mid November have we now mid April; if I calculate for each week 5 to 10 hours in round 20 weeks lies the result between 100 and 200 hours, so thereabouts. But this aren't too many, if it is really your hobby, you will have fun thereby.
And with painting and weathering I hope I can make it a bit better than at my Tiger 2; I can nothing promise but you will see it in this forum.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Hotte,

I agree, you get working on these and 4 or 5 hours can fly by! I don't think I have seen you KT pics. You can PM me some if you like. I would like to see your previous pant.
You have a good weekend too!

I've long time thought about, if I exchange the rear turret hatch from Tamiya against the WeCoHe kit and what should I say; I've decided me for the WeCoHe kit.
However, I want to have the possibility to drive with opened or closed hatch. That means that the hatch must be rebuilt so that she can be opened and closed from outside.
A screw with inside square in this scale is probably not possible, but a hexagon screw can be used; but all in the right sequence.
I began to cut the original hatch out, for the rough I've used my fretsaw and reworked with my Dremel with a milling cutter. After that were followed filing and sanding. The turret looked then like this.

…and so from inside

It continued with the assembly of the hatch. By the way, the kit is as usual from WeCoHe high quality and good to work with.
For the possibility to close the hatch, have I outside, there where the inside square is, a bit deeper milled. After this I've drilled through the hatch and through the whole lock bolt with a 0.8 mm driller. Then I've cut in the lock bolt a thread M1. At mounting I've used two little self-made washers and the M1 bolt screwed and glued into the lock bolt. The remaining parts I've mounted without modifications according to plan. Now can I open the hatch from outside with a little socket wrench.
Here now the corresponding pictures.

After this was the hinge mounted inside and outside the holder for the hatch holding hook, everything with M1 bolts. Inside I've glued two pieces PE-plate of 0.5 mm thickness, therewith the hatch not clatters when she is closed.

In the hinge for the hatch I've cut a thread M 1.2; so it's possible to remove the hatch.

In conclusion then for the detailing around the hatch all the necessary welds was attached. But unfortunately no pictures taken... :(

Many thanks men; soon it will go on with my tank commander. He will be built out of a older resin figure; all to see in the next report. Until then.
