Re: M48 MBT – The Cold War Warrior – scratch built report
That dear Freddy is an absolute masterpiece. It looks like it came straight out of a Tamiya box. Top marks, and don't be afraid of electrics, if you can plug in an RX18, you can plug in any of the aftermarket boards, they all use the same plugs and are a doddle to set up. Having realistic rumbling engine sounds would be the icing on the cake.

Re: M48 MBT – The Cold War Warrior – scratch built report
A little update of the M48A2C (my Magach 2) build.
The used M1A2 metal tracks are almost matching with the M48, but the rubber pads have the wrong shape. Therefore I made a test with using 3D printed pads instead.
First the metal tracks disassembled…

…mounted again…

…and here you see the result:

(in the back the original metal tracks)

Regards,
Freddy

What material are you using?

Those look great Freddy.
Will you make them available to those of us that have the M48 kit?

this is simply PLA, but the links are massiv designed.Tiger6 wrote:What material are you using?
Yes, it's possible to get the exchangeable links, but they're pricey, because they're solid, need a lot of material and printing time.BarryC wrote:Those look great Freddy.![]()

Excellent!!
IMO they make all the difference in how the M48 looks.

Let me get some $$ together and I will be in touch.
