Rear view, the electronic box was much reduced compared to the original and is less visible now. Notice that the guns are in action.

Notice the LED fire coming out of the machine gun. This will probably be hidden later during painting. I still want to see how it looks at night... Although likely not realistic, it does make a hell of an impact on the gun action.

I did absolutely nothing on the running train. Works well and looks good.

Added twisted wire for the winch drum. It would have been nice to power the winch somehow but the motor box is too small without altering it significantly.

Maximum high elevation. Having the new machine guns with brass barrels without the WSN slots and LED wires showing is really improving the model, specially when the guns are raised.

Additional ammo supply for this model is provided by SOL Resin Factory, including some .30 cal ammo for the M1919 machine gun that will be at the front right of the cabin roof, as seen in a Korean war picture shown in a much earlier post.

This is it. I am still waiting for most figures to arrive and i am not expecting them anytime soon. So i will go on and paint the model. Other than the night time pictures i want to take tonight, next time you see it, it shall be painted and weathered in a winter setting for Korea. For this reason, i have ordered some winter snow weathering supply that i am supposed to get this week. I never used that before so it will be a new thing for me.

It's like radio-inception! So many copies of the same model...

Wonderful build, and I am super excited to see the paint scheme. I must say though, strangely the brass and OD look nice together.

Hi, thank you everyone for your encouragements.

Today, i painted and weathered the model, a 6 hour operation on a beautiful summer vacation day. There is still the winter snow to apply later, and a few minor upgrades i saw while looking at the pictures.

First, i had to create the frontal protection .30 Cal M1919 machine gun and get all the ammo cans ready for painting. The M1919 is a Shapeways 3D printed body and mount with Aber brass barrel.

These are the main elements of the paint job, in a few steps.
1- Coat of Vallejo Olive drab surface primer. First time i use this primer/paint combination. I was really impressed. It thoroughly covered all the white plasticard in one coat but it is a bit less green than the original WSN paint, so need to be applied everywhere. I went very lightly and gently over the WSN white printed markings, just to cover the immediate surroundings and tone them down a bit, allowing me to save them. This is a big thing to save time, effort and get quality markings. Although i purchased Peddinghaus decals just in case, my goal was to keep the nicely painted original markings whenever possible. The task of cutting Peddinghaus decals and applying them without seam over raised details and all over the ammo bins was really something i needed to avoid.
2- Application of AK Winter Streaking grime, in vertical brush strokes over the sides of the vehicle, a 10 minute operation.
3- Application of AK earth effect on the lower chassis, front wheels
4- Some black AK pigments on some low areas
5- Drybrush the AK dark steel pigments over the machine guns (after painting them flat black), and over a few raised areas.
