Happy tankers

HMMMMMMMMMMM

Maybe start with "going to get Tanker"....then "got a tank Tanker"..."grumpy Tanker" ...."angry Tanker" ...and progress up to "Happy Tanker" ...because sooner or later we all go through those stages progressively

PS...One thing I think might be thought of is Names....Does a person want to be addressed by his/her real name ...or their chosen Tag name...For instance...I know Scalawag's name is Paul...but I still call him Scalawag...Not out of disrespect...but because he chose that Tag

JARNDICE,
If you have revealed your real name whilst contributing or replying then one would assume that being called by that or your Tag is no problem either way.
It is easy to be referred to only by your tag if that is your wish and there is no reason why not and there are plenty of examples.
This really is a non issue.
SHAUN.

Pax vobiscum! The rank thing is just a little novelty that lends this forum a distinct cache from those with similar basic terms of reference; those being primarily: rc modelling; military vehicles but particularly those of the tanker sort, and related military themes. But what really sets this one apart is a pronounced social element too; not to mention the often entertaining off-topic threads. If you look at a forum set up by servicemen like A.R.S.S.E, for example, much of the discussion there is
non-military. That forum appears to be a place to share opinions, whinges, jests, knowledge..and probably acts as a relief valve, I'd guess, for the pressures that build in the military sphere...and some of the drudgery. They do discuss things military too.
For my part, I drifted in here for the ideas, a few laughs, to learn stuff, and to broaden my horizons....and it's become something of a home away from home; a library away from the library; and a madhouse away from the madhouse

On usernames and real names...
I assume that anyone who signs up on the internet using a name-other-than-their-real-name wants some degree of privacy. Until they post their real names openly, like ending their posts with their real name, then it is IMO good etiquette to address them by their usernames instead of real names even if you know him or her on a personal basis.
And so that's how it will be, for me. Some of you I know their personal names. But I will continue addressing you by your usernames because of privacy concerns.
As for being called a tanker...
As I've mentioned on my earlier post here, unless you're a real life tanker (i.e., one who served in the armoured unit in a tank either as driver, loader, gunner, or TC), being called a tanker smacks of being a walt. I'd prefer being called an RC tank enthusiast or hobbyist. But that's just me, and I won't impose my opinions on the matter on others - just don't call me tanker as I don't deserve to be called as such (and I won't call you tanker unless I know you are or were really a tanker). Just being honest on my part.
