The IBU2 which I use now is completely plug and play with H/l or Taigen tanks, you can play with the sounds and settings on a computer as long as you can read a micro SD card. A very flexible and capable board in most aspects, and I have had excellent customer service from RC Tank Electronics.
The Clark system is also plug and play, although some of its features do require a little bit of rewiring if you wanted to make use of them. You also need a specific Sony TV remote control and IR receiver to be able to change settings on this board. Soands are not customisable so you will need to order one with a suitable sound set for the tank you intend to use it in. I would check out the vendors blacklist for TankZone, as they are now the soul distributor for Clark products in the UK I believe.
I believe that Elmod have introduced a range of boards named "Fusion". From what I have seen so far they seem to use mostly H/L connections, but I have no experience with these at all. RC Tank.de is stocking these now.
There are other systems out there but these are the ones I know about in terms of being H/L plug and play.
Most of these systems require a 4 channel radio system, although I would suggest looking at at least 6 channels to give you some flexibility of control.
I am using a Turnigy 9XR from Hobbyking, and an FrSky XJT module, with FrSky X8R receivers.
Thanks for the info on these. I will have a look at them, like I said the reason behind asking is that my taigen tank has the turret glued shut so cant access anything so will only be able to use what's hanging out of the turret as you see it lol..
Either the IBU2 or the Clark would do this for you.
I am not sure at all about the Elmod Fusion, but I think it might be ok.
My personal choice would be for the IBU2. I have 5 of these (3 basic & 2 pro) and really like them.
Hey Scalawag ... You know Taigens pretty well.... are all their turrets glued shut? ... man...I was thinking of getting one when you recommended them..but if they are glued...I'll take my chances with Heng Long
It Might be just mine lol. theres always a bad apple in the cart and I got that one .... I suppose if it all goes wrong I could buy a new turret that I can get into

I don't think they would do just one ....though you never know... I've heard the Heng Long glue monkey gets around...you should have seen the gobs of glue in the Mato Sherman
