Hi Painless

Sorry to read of your sad loss. Time will dull the pain and leave you with happy memories.

This thread is a really good guide for anyone building a KV - nice one Sir! I am eagerly waiting for the build thread.

Cup,
Thank you, Sir. I have found peace of the heart of a sort and am moving forward a day at a time. The Rescue Foundation that Wish hails from has sent us photos of a 5 month old named Waylon who needs a good home so we will see ;o) I'm glad that this research thread is of use. The Build Thread will begin once I am back from Honeymoon in a little over two weeks.
warm regards,
Painless

This post will end my part in the research for the upcoming build of a 1941 KV-2A. I have two great books to finish thanks to Sassgrunt and will read them thoroughly while away. I took some time today for personal reasons and used it to weather and complete the 1/35 KV-2A done up in 'Protective' Green and now...mud. *chuckles* It's getting to where I can almost do this in my sleep. That is the point of it I figure. The model was again, a thoughtful assist from Sassgrunt and at this rate I will have to have his name in cyrillic or summat displayed on the completed 1/16 build. Also, thanks again to all of you who understood and offered a shoulder to a fellow tanker felled by the loss of family.
warm regards,
Painless

I really like the amount of mud you applied. Sometimes there's just too much for my taste, and what you used looks just right. No need of a Cyrillic name somewhere. Besides, if you wanted to do something appropriate, it would probably be a pair of legs sticking out from underneath the tank, where the guy fell asleep after a hard night of too much vodka.

Have a great trip, and remember us while you're gone, (but not too much - you have to remember HER, first)! -Mike

Good Morning, Sassgrunt,
*chuckles* I will remember the tanker sleeping under his tank bit. ;o) I was going for a dried mud effect since this is a Summer of 41' tank. It came out pretty good tho' I still have trepidations about the Tamiya Weathering Kit with all of it's Health Warnings. I stand well above the vehicle when applying it and wash my hands and the applicator thoroughly when done and store it well out of the way like I would a firearm. Very effective use of warning text by Tamiya. On the Honeymoon, I will do my best and have only planned one side trip to an Armor Museum in Texas on the way to Florida. *winks* The Mate is very understanding of my Hobby and is looking forward to meeting you in May for dinner, Sassgrunt. I will check in at night on the tablet to see how things are going. Thank you again for everything.
warm regards,
Painless

Alpha,
*chuckles* This is the speckled model. ;o) The paint specks I had mentioned earlier were because the Model Masters medium green was running out. Like a newb, I decided to try to get one last spray out of it with the speckles on the rear bulkhead resulting. I wasn't too put off by them, I knew weathering would take care of it. *bows* I'm glad you like the results, my friend. I do as well. Since I have found pics in Sassgrunt's books of KV-2As where the Germans just remarked the vehicle and added the various bits to make it a 754(r), I would be comfortable with doing my Capture in the 'Protective' green version I came up with. It's definitely in the running. I do like the challenge as well of doing the Tri-Tone Camo in a hard edge version as I think that would look pretty darn good as well. We'll see in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the well wishes. After this awful week, the Mate and I really need to get away for a while.
warm regards,
Painless

Why yes it is :haha: :haha: :haha: ....good job of camouflaging Tovarisch Painless :haha:

And yes... you and yours deserve a break... you all had a tumultuous week... to say the least
When you have the chance.... on your journey... find a peaceful spot.. take in everything around you ..and if you feel a gentle breeze brush past ...should it surge through the both of you... smile and hug each other.... as it will in all probability be a playful spirit... letting you know you have a guardian angel watching over you..and she will be not in white.. but gray ;)

As Katyushia and Nonna would say

Hi Painless,
It is hard to pick a favorite out of all those different versions. I really dig the German version with the camo. When does the 1/16th version start?

Good evening,
Pale, on the road in Florida but expect to be home by Monday late. More bad news, the Ex, my one time mate and Friend of 29 years passed away late Sat. Night. The Services are next week so me and my better half talked it over and decided to come home early. I am expected to speak and be a bearer and need to be there. We will try this thing again next year.
Regards,
Painless
