You know, this has been a really good thread and I've enjoyed it very much, but the main question I asked is still hangin' out there - Can I refuse promotion? I'd like to stay an enlisted man. Staff Sergeant would be cool. Sgt. Max. I like it. Of course, Max was actually a Machinist's Mate in the U Boot Korps of the Kriegsmarine, but I think he'll understand.

No Worries 2nd Leftentant...to a certain degree I agree with ATC....as I said before ..the numbers here are minuscule ...on Bravo boards I had almost 50000 posts ...some had over 60000...As far as the rank titling goes..it's all good ....every board I've been on has some "title" of sorts ;) and it's kind of fun kidding around with each other lol

Gary I understand completely your reason for wishing to remain a Staff Sgt,
When I was in the service I learned two important things about the holders of that rank,
First If you wanted anything you went to the QM stores wherein resided a QM Staff Sgt and second this fine person would be wearing the smartest tailored uniform and driving the best car in the unit,
But of course this was just coincidence :haha:

Just putting it out there, ranking cud be done on the quality of ones models. Just a thought.

Your idea might be even better than mine mate. As to who would see about build quality i wud imagine that would be left to admins, but then thats more work for them at the end of the day without feeling like iam contradicting myself but does it matter about rank ? As long as we all enjoy our hobby and help eachother and get inspiration from others thats what counts.

I have mixed views on highlighting individual contributors to the Forum,
I think it is an irrelevance but unless you are an out and out Communist it comes under the title of harmless fun.
Certainly new members quite rightly ask most questions and older members answer them but whether that is a good enough reason to highlight those who contribute more input than someone who uses the Forum to learn but is reluctant to reply I am unwilling to offer a view.
Shaun.

Hi Scalawag maybe you took my opnion up wrong lets say lost in translation, sometimes when reading something can be taken out of context as opposed if the same thing was said face to face if you catch my drift. Lord noway am i suggesting ppl shud be encouraged to leave. Just dont worry about the ranking system just enjoy and benefit from a wonderful site with like minded people. :)

Brendan.
