I've been looking at this subject because I came up with this 'bright idea' that I could adapt suspension units from the Hooben Elefant to make a Jagdtiger with the Porsche suspension. It is proving to be a difficult and expensive proposition, and figuring out the roadwheel offset is just one of the problems. Also, the roadwheels between the Elefant and Jagdtiger don't really look alike; although I started it thinking that they did.

Maybe it could be done combining Juckenburg's roadwheel hub with the Asiatam or Hooben Elephant suspension, but yet again it would be expensive. I read something on the RC universe forums about that there were plans to offer the Porsche style suspension for the JT, but haven't seen it yet. But lets not make XRAD's thread OT. I would like to see some more buildpic's.

Some updates:
I made a little tool on the lathe. You don;t need a lathe to make this, just dremel with cone bit and a file and aluminum rod. I cut a few inches off the wife's mop handle (she won;t know it's missing!! ! )

Dremel out some grooves and what remains simulates the deep torch cuts to the plates. It needs to be hot, so you have to have a wood handle. i used a MAPP torch (in backgrond) I could do three or four impressions before having to reheat. As the plastic melts out of the grooves, it also forms the weld! Bonus! a little sanding and all looks pretty good. Takes about ten minutes to do all the cuts (but I missed the front end..oooops) U can use the edge of the tool to do small welds, too (like rear deck plate)

The matorro hull comes with many pits to simulate rough plate?.?.. anyway, most of these have to be filled so everything looks better..

I recommend Testor's grey tube putty for weld areas (if you have to fill a crack) because it melts like plastic

What If you want to simulate a rough plate on a tank, what to use then. I knew I read somewhere what they used on 1/35 /148 etc models, but I can't find/remember.

maybe a sand blaster and compressor on a light setting? Smear testors grey putty and lightly sand? Maybe a mild acid to melt/pit the plastic?

Ball Bearing for idler. 10x5mm bearing fits perfectly with no cutting. need a trimmed down collar to keep bearing in place, little grease added too. I use dubro allen head (2.5mm x 12?) instead of tammy screws, and some locktite, for final assembly:
