They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.

Re: wsn tiger 1
Can you elaborate on this proposed schurtzen mounts? 0002 and 0004 show two different methods of mounting the spare tracks all of which where unofficial field modifications picture 0004 is Tiger 712 captured by the Americans now in ownership of a certain English private collector, this Tiger I have seen picture 0004 is harder to place but it isn't Normandy that's for sure0z wrote: heres a couple more, note the PzIII track on pic 0002, and on 0004 are the proposed schurzen mounts for the tiger 1.

Re: wsn tiger 1
the pic is from the eastern front but where is unknown, once the Russians started to field the IS2 series it was found the tiger could be taken out ( or more the crew ) with one shot, as you know the soviets fielded some fierce tank guns, this was a proposed method of added protection but the war ended before it could be implemented fully, although this is still a bone of contention with modelers and historians alike heres another pic .............

Re: wsn tiger 1
Three of the pictures you posted where taken before the IS2 entered service two of them are from Italy and one is from Tunisia the late Tiger I'm not sure where that came from but track links where added to the front of Tigers both before and in different regions to the IS2.
This last picture is very interesting for another reason which is associated with Panthers or one Panther that is known and that is Jack littlefield

Re: wsn tiger 1
yes the last picture reminds me of jack Littlefield Panther A this had the same brackets when it was recovered though you are right it is unclear what they where for.
Back to your early Tiger I with the late wheels that you sourced from a Polish web site do you know where the pictures where taken and do you know which company it belonged to
