Malbec
Malbec is a black grape variety used in the production of red wines. It is one of the six grape varieties authorized in the blends of Bordeaux reds, in particular because of its color and the robustness of its tannins. It is planted mainly in Cahors, in the south-west of France.
Great if it works, a few minor tweaks left? what's the problem with hindsight?

Every day is a school day. I never said I had taste.
The problem is the micro switch highlighted.

This had an internal fault. It has now been replaced, and as of this morning is working.

They all have degrees of dementia. This gentleman was a Royal Engineer, and his mechanical skills had not diminished. His only comment “bloody German tank”.

Meter Rat, what a wonderful thing you have done to enrich the life of one who suffers from dementia!

He remembered many antidotes and stories, so I had a very pleasant afternoon with him. One of the care staff said he was more animated for the afternoon, than he had been Ffor some time.

Next dumb ass question. And I realise there will be as many answers as there are folk on the forum. After what seems like endless days of filling and sanding. I hope at the weekend to start fitting some PE clasps for the tools. How do people go about it? After main paint? Pinned to the deck? Made around the tools? As this is my first time using PE, I am looking for some guidance and ideas.

Im nit a P.E. guru, but what I have done I reckon is best to put on before main paint, but from a practical point, I made the clamps and fitted them after main paint by gently scraping a spot off & super gluing them in place with the tools. The tools themselves are little artworks with wooden handles etc, seems a shame to try to paint them after they are covered by a main coat of base & camo !!

Any thoughts on its final paint scheme?

Mr Bix. I think it will be grey, as per the Tamiya build manual for Abt, 503. With the number 321 for Von Rosen’s tank. However there does seem to be some doubt,as to whether this units tanks were grey or sand coloured. So not sure yet. The plate in Tiger 1 , on the Eastern Front shows it in Sand, and the book Panzer Ace describes the delivery “ as great grey beasts”. I have seen a tank from another unit which I quite fancy in grey with white over it. I need to do some further looking at details. For someone who thought Tiger models were too “common” and everyone and his dog has built one, I now understand why they have a fascination. I am thoroughly enjoying it. More to follow if you are all still awake?

There is new information out there stating that all Tiger tanks were in fact dunkel gelb, and dunkel Grau was field applied.
I have the source somewhere will post it.

Why, oh why did you have to tel me that? That will give me a reason to ask a whole new lot of dumb ass questions when I get around to the top coats. If you could find the source, that would be appreciated. I think I could have some fun with the paint.
