I've been looking for a breach for the M18 Hellcat that can hide the recoil servo myself. I'll be anxious to see what you come up with.

Me too! I have a couple thoughts, but I look forward to where this ends up.

Hey Eric, I just got back and am reading your latest developments on the M10. Take a look at the detail on this 1/6 one; maybe they'll help you visualize what you're looking for. -Mike

Now that is a stunning build, and a great reference.

Re: M10 Duck bill
Found this free download on Thingiverse for the Hellcat, but it seems he has a Jackson turret and Jackson recoil breach in 1/10th scale. Not sure how different the breach is from the Jackson to the M10. I was thinking about trying to scale it down to 1/16 and printing it for the Hellcat to see if I could hide my recoil under it.

It has only taken me about 20 years to even learn how to post links. Pictures are going to take a mite longer. Schmuck.

Re: M10 Duck bill
That is a great reference as well.
I've started with a sleeve that the barrel can slide in and also joins the rotor shield and trunion. Now it's time to work out the recoil cylinders and such. The rotor is installed from inside turret and the sleeve and rotor shield press in from the front. Working out the rest to be removable for maintenance.
Stay tuned...

Re: M10 Duck bill
Sleeve not yet cut to length yet but does have a nice fit to rotor/trunnion.
Upper right are the old recoil cylinder and breach. The brass rod in the aluminum tube will likely become the new cylinders. This will help scale down things a bit. Mike's reference pictures of the 1/6th M10 really helps....
Again this is stuff laying around. That sleeve is tubing cut from an old camping chair that was thrown away.

Re: M10 Duck bill
Here is the start to the conversion. Just had to save/reuse the the breach end as it was the first scratch build, couldn't bear to throw it out. Ended up turning a replacement barrel, the original was too short to reach the breach. Barrel has not been tapered yet in this picture, pencil mark shows where it leaves rotor shield.
Here are the three turrets. The gun in the M10 (left side) is the same size as the center one used to be, before the rework. M36 is a Nick Aguilar turret kit (right), seems to be the right size. Barrel has now been cut to length and is tapered.
Not mechanized yet, but here is the smooth sliding barrel and breach.
On to gun detail and figuring out how this is going to have hidden recoil.
