Rumor is this is an unauthorized copy of a DBC. Sad to say but if you go to Darkiths web page and follow his instruction, you will probably get this working. I guess if you do, it will confirm you are the proud owner of a pirated design. >:(
My mom told me if it looks like a duck and sqauwks like a duck, it is a duck, even if someone tries to tell you it is a chicken.

The wire harnesses looked the same too. One would think that once Bill knows this, he'll make things right with Darkith.

In Australia if someone gets a product, then improves it, sells it for less than before, and will stand behind it, we think that is progress or am I wrong in thinking that?

Darkith is a small cottage industry who developed the DBC from input from the folks online here. He has been free with his technical advice on just about everything tank related. RCC was a reseller of his products, and now they have come out with their own. I was very supportive of this new battle system, as it came stuffed for a very reasonable price. Competition and all is good for the market place. However now that I see it looks identical and operates identically the same as Darkiths I have to come out and call a spade a spade. It is a shame. We are a close knit group, helping each other out, and I don't like seeing things like this.
I'll get down off my soap box now.

So if someone copied a Porsche Cayman and added a wiper on the back window and called it an Outback, they would go unpunished in Australia??? I doubt it.
I think I must be getting old. We live in a time where people feel it is all right to take and copy whatever they feel like. Music, movies, software. All seems to be fair game in todays world. Oh well.

I agree with you wholeheartedly YHR. This is piracy - pure and simple. Darkith is a tower of knowledge and skill. Without him our hobby would be very much the poorer. His DBU/DBC system has enabled hundreds of Heng-Long owners to experience the joys of Tamiya RC compatibility. I'm sure the RC Tanking world would be a much smaller place without him. It would have been better if RC-Command had worked with him to improve his product, rather than blatantly copying it. Darkith has stated that he will not have anything to do with this product, so now tankers are already suffering by the loss of his input.
Like many people, I was very interested in this product from RC-Command at first and I was all set to order some. But now I have changed my mind and ordered some more of Darkith's DBU/DBCs instead.
I wouldn't blame Darkith if he decides to walk away from this hobby because of this. But our world would be very much the poorer if he does.

Hi Guys Have been reading the last few posts and have a little to say ,!st is yes it may well operate the same as the DBC,yes it may look similar to the DBC,But it is a completly new curcuit board The chip would have to have its own progam ,it also has four sounds (DBC only two )and there are differances on the board ,I dont mean the plugs and sockets but the electronics .
So in context It may look similar it dose the same job but better its got better sound and is upgradeable ,The EGS system does a similar job and looks similar but is not as good as both these units there are other add on battle systems all do a similar job I.E.allow Heng Long tanks to battle with Tamiya tanks. Are they all knock offs ?
Here is something to think about is a Ford Fiesta a knock off of a vauxhall corsa or volkswagen polo they all look similar and do the same job ?Same MPG,seating capacity ,size, not much difference in shape .
My thoughts are its not a knock off but a step forward with the better sounds the board may look similar but it is different and not a copy the chip will also be different in the programing ,there are subtlie changes to the board ,and a totally different sound card the battle unit is different as well this is a modified Heng Long .Heng Long probably wont mind about this they expect everyone to modifie there products different tracks /gearboxes /motors ECT,ECT.
regards pete

damn pete you just got your message in before me and swiped excactly was i was about to say about the chip LOL
a way to prove this point that the chis are different to the DBC / DBU, is that RCC's new sound board he will be releasing will only work with his module, and if the chips were the same on both then it would work with the DBC / DBU too.
cheers, although i say this i do highly appretiated the points about it being coppied,
Matt

Nick, when it's all up and running, would you be prepared to put a video on You Tube so that we can see exactly what it does, and what it sounds like?
Cheers
