Thats an awesome price Oz! The cheapest I could find any was £70. If your mate is interested in swapping one for a snow leopard, i've got a brand new one going spare.

There is no two ways about it this is an early Tiger with the late steel road wheels with a white wash over the tank I don't think this is a Fermann Tiger but it is one of the retro fitted Tigers, which book have these pictures come from do they suggest a unit or area where the pictures where taken.
Track links on the front left and right upper isn't an uncommon sight many of the Abtelungs carried spare track in this manner with improvised brackets

As said by rivetcounter track links as additional frontal armour were not uncommon.
Other very common mods were barbed wire on the hull sides and logs for unditching.
Cheers

Don't go thinking the late tracks with chevrons are specific to late Tigers they where introduced in late 43 there are many pictures of early Tigers with late tracks and also a mix of early and late links on the same track now that would add artistic merit to a build

the whitewashed tiger is from kompanie hummel not the fehrmann unit.
