I THINK Ian has figured it out but I'm out right now so I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Okay so when I uploaded the files to my website I put updated software and drivers in one folder and the firmware file separately. This seems to of caused the issue as Jackalope was looking for the firmware file in the updated software download.

So for clarity for this update, need to
1) uninstall old PC software (it won't update the new firmware)
2) download latest PC software and install
3) download firmware v0.12 (my website will always have latest version on the download)
4) connect tank to PC, confirm it is communicating correctly (try writing some settings to the IBU3)
5) select firmware update, then select the downloaded ibu3.dfu file and let it do it's thing
6) close PC software and turn tank off
7) open PC software, turn tank on, connect and check the PC software displays the correct firmware version.

Ok first, how do I uninstall the old software? Let's start there.

I was able to get the new stuff to download, only took me 10 hours to figure it out. But now the tank does nothing, I'm thinking it's that uninstall that's holding me up now, anybody know how to do that?

Yeah cause now it doesn't make the power up sounds when I turn on the tank and even though it's hooked up to the laptop the com port won't open.

I've deleted everything to do with the IBU3 from my laptop so unless it's something I have to uninstall from the board in the tank I'm once again stuck.

Little green led just flashes now, tank does nothing.

What version of Windows are you on?

http://m.wikihow.com/Remove-Programs-(Windows-7

That explain the process on 7, Google will show you how to do it on the other Windows versions.

Here is a series of picture guides.

First Part 1 – Uninstalling the old software (here I’m using a Windows 7 PC so could look different)

Open control Panel

Image

On Windows 8, 8.1 move curser to top right corner of screen a side bar appears. Click on magnifier glass (search), type “control panel” in the box and hit return or enter.

On Windows 10. In the task bar click the search box and type “control panel” and hit return or enter.

In control panel, there are 2 common views

List
Find the Programs and Features button and click it

Image

Or category
Under Programs, click “uninstall programs”

Image

This should lead you to this screen

Image

Scroll down until you see the “Configurator” (back sure IBU is in the publisher column)

Then select uninstall/modify from the top button

Image

Should now see this screen.

Image

Select remove and click Ok

Now that should have it removed.

Part 2 – Installing PC software

Go to http://www.rctankelectronics.com/ibu3.html

At the bottom of the page there are the download links.

Download
PC software & drivers package
IBU3.dfu (This is the firmware)

Save these to a location on your computer

Image

You will see the PC software & Drivers is in a compressed Zip folder (note your icon might be different to shown)

So need to uncompress the Zip folder by highlighting the folder and right clicking the mouse to get the menu as below

Image

Select the extract to PC Software… and it will uncompress the folder like below

Image

Now open the folder, and you see the folder contains 3 more further compressed folders (Software and 2 Drivers)

So again highlight the PC Software compressed folder and right clicking the mouse to get the menu as below

Image

Which should give you this

Image

Now open the PC Software folder and you should see

Image

Highlight the setup file, right click mouse and select “Run as Administrator”

Image

You might get a warning window appear, click yes or ok

Next you see this window

Image

Click Run

When you see this

Image

Click install

Then when complete you should see this

Image

Then click the speech bubble with flags in, and you get this

Image

Select Union Jack for English

Next click the little USB drive icon

And select your COM port

Part 3 – Firmware updating

Open the PC Software “Configurator”

Make sure your IBU3 and computer are connected and communicating. i.e. try reading or changing the settings on the IBU3

Image

Select Firmware Update button, and you should see this

Image

Find your downloaded ibu3.dfu file

Image

Select open, and the software will now update the IBU3 firmware.

When done turn tank/IBU3 off. Close PC software

Open PC software and turn tank back on.

Select setup button and in the top left of the screen it will display the current firmware installed on the IBU3.

You will now need to redo your radio to IBU3 setup and reload your sounds and settings.
