Great build, looking very nice, keep up the good work.

Hi Chris I put the LEDs under the engine grills they work very well and are visible from a good distance .Have also fitted the Leds on the panzer /stug and the Sherman in the engine grills .Dont see any point hiding the apple then having LEDs sticking out in plane sight .The emitters are all mounted in the mantles and try to find the best places for the sensors without making them stickout like a sore thumb

Managed to get some more work done this week. Zimmed the hull and turret front. I had some bolt-heads left over after I zimmed my HL StuG III so decided to use them on the driver's/co-driver's front plate. I never throw anything away - you never know when it will come in useful! (Mind you, I can rarely find anything I do keep!)

Made up some track tensioners (blatantly copying the ones on Tank-Modellbau). They seem to work just fine.

The HL 3-1 gearboxes just did not allow the hull top to fit perfectly so rather than cutting and filing bits off here and there I decided to take Rob's (FV432's) advice and invest in a pair of asiatam low profile ones instead. They fit great.

Fitting the metal tools was the next job and making a box on the left side to hold the two spare roadwheels. I used some spare Bandai roadwheels for this and, although they are 1/15th as opposed to 1/16th scale, they do the job.

Put a GOW (grain of wheat) bulb inside an old tiger headlamp. Hope to hook that up to the spare CN5 socket on the Tamiya MFU so it gives an indication whether the tank is on or off.

Next up:-

I need to make a pair of cylindrical air filters that were fitted on the right side of the hull on ausf 'H's. They might take a bit of work to get right.

got to ask about the gearboxes ... as you say it looks better by increasing the height by 3mm ... ok can do ... but it looks like you actualy reshaped the front of the geraboxes ? is thst so the front hull plate sits back in place ?? as on my p4 just looking by eyeball looks like to would not sit back in place

No, I didn't reshape the front of the gearboxes.
Originally I tried to fit a set of HL 3-1 modified gearboxes I bought especially for this project, but they were a tight fit and would have taken quite a lot of filing along the top to get the hull top to fit flush. Instead I took the advice given by FV432 and bought a set of Asiatam low-profile 3-1 gearboxes instead. They fit perfectly without any modification.

none of mine have the bracing in them

Just standard gearboxes Rob. I got them from Welsh Dragon. I haven't modified them or anything. I did notice that they do look a bit different from the ones I put in my StuG though, so it might be Asiatam are changing the spec.

I am intrigued by these Asiatam 3.1 low profile g/boxes. I see fv432 has them in his Tiger. Apart from their low profile, are they different to the standard 3.1s ? or is it just their profile. Have the motors increased torque ?  Superb PZ build.
