I apologise for my outburst HERMAN,
But with the exception of British and Japanese Armour the five years from 1939 to 1945 are very well covered and yet from 1950 to 1990 almost NOTHING. Raminator (DAN) makes a very good point and now the Chinese economy appears to be on the skids perhaps an innovator from the Indian sub continent will invest a few million rupee's in building 1/16 post war RC armour for our delectation ?

Hey, I agree with ya, but global economics and market share are what they are.

Factories will make what most will buy.............Im surprised they made a Challenger, but glad they did.

Have a think about how many 'bad' H/L Tiger 1's there are in circulation now, and they still sell, put that against a 'good' other version of any mark................simple capitalist economics I'm afraid.

By the way, Lt. J., don't take it amiss if your humble batman has the temerity to point out that 'Centurion' is spelt/spelled...well, er, 'Centur i o n and not 'Centurian....Centur i a n would be Botham hitting a hundred in ancient times. Maybe this is the reason the plea to have one produced has gone unnoticed; and your tasteful (and amusing..it has to be said) vitriolic lost in the ether ...now, I'll go and peel the spuds sir, for insubordination !

Should our Chinese/Indian 1/16 armour makers need an excuse for keeping their costs down, then here is a titbit of information to help,
The CenturiOn, the Chieftain and the Conqueror all had the same type of Suspension (HORSTMANN) which will keep the manufacturing costs down and from our point of view unlike the intrusive Torsion bar set up in Tigers and Panthers, it was bolted onto the side of the Hull so you get a Hull interior free of intrusions with the potential for more s p a c e.

Nae bother..and you're very welcome, Shaun. I always enjoy your contributions, especially the festering rants! Thought I might have to do 'jankers' for a mo there, though! Back on the theme of tanks, I see that Armortek and Mark-1-tank have both-between them, that is- produced versions of tanks I'd love to own: The Sherman Firefly, British Mk IV, and the Cromwell/Comet. At 1/6 scale, they also stir reckless levels of temptation that are hard to combat.... and a relapse into the modern syndrome: creditcarditis. Luckily, I don't owe anyone a penny, and I'd like to keep it that way..but the Armortek Mk IV..with all that shiny machined aluminium, and rivets..as it was when displayed at the Tank Museum. Well, that could spell my downfall. But these limited edition tanks are as rare as rocking horse s*it, and cost what equates to a major deposit on a new car, or annual repairs to Donald Trump's hair For me, then, it will have to be a scratch build of the Comet in 1/16. The Comet not only saw action in WW2, but also was the ancestor of the legendary Centurion, and so it fulfils the WW2 and post-war tank desideratum for those who want a machine with a post 39-45 pedigree. Shaun's right, too, about the economics of (model) suspension production..and it also applied to the manufacture of the real deal.
More than that, wasn't the Comet a head-turning beauty

In common with a lot of others I have followed the principle of if it looks right it is right, this is true of for instance the "E" type Jaguar, the English Electric Lightning, the Tiger 1 and the Comet,
ALTHOUGH while many comparisons have been made to prove that the Comet is the missing link between the Cromwell and the CenturiOn the original purpose was not that, but was initially a stop gap, when the never ending efforts to fit the new 77mm main gun into a modified Cromwell turret failed,
And so the path to a new Cruiser tank was laid,
There was a choice of engines but for as long as the Meteor was in the running it was a no brainer that it would get chosen.
Unfortunately the Christie suspension was just about at its limit in a Cruiser and it was thought it would not work in a Main Battle Tank hence the choice of the Horstmann system for the CenturiOn,
In other words while better and more informed minds than mine say the Comet is the parent of the CenturiOn my thought is that what the Comet actually achieved was to finally nail the missing part of British Armours Triangle,
Power, Armour, and Armament,
For up till then we had always failed to get it right, Too much of one and not enough of another and rather like a dog chasing its own tail it looked to an outsider that this was a problem without an answer UNTIL the Comet which did find the right formula, and with the notable exception of the NATO inspired Leyland Multi-Fuel engine for the Chieftain we have held onto that winning formula, so even though the differences between the Comet (Cruiser Tank) and the CenturiOn (MBT)were big the principle first introduced by the Comet made the CenturiOns success more likely.
