Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
The research Stug III Ausf B is complete. Despite one of the rear mud guard flashing decals floating onto my white kitchen floor while applying and being lost to the Ages ( or the next mopping ), I managed to make a dry slide type replacement that shows well. Now to start hoarding parts for the 1/16 scale version sometime here soon. Still got that Tiger 1 metal kit to start on next in December. Pictures:

Alpha,
Good morning. Watermarks? *chuckles* Overall, I'm pleased with this one and will work to make the 1/16 version look this way. No interior tho' ;o) I'm not starting my Tiger 1 until Christmas since it is a gift to myself. I'm seriously tempted to start the Stug right now but reason has prevailed. It is the Holidays so cash is needed elsewhere plus a resin conversion will definitely take 30 days + ( for me since mounting servos will be a first ) So I am on hiatus for a few til I can dive into my Tiger. The Stug will be a Spring build and I will enjoy it since afterwards, the 1/6 Stuart will eat up most of the rest of the year. ( and my free cash )
regards,
Painless

Yeah in this image....you can see light and dark areas...for lack of a better term...I refer to that kind of "staining" watermarks

You going to do servos on your 1/16th version?

This Stug came out really good...think once you transfer it to a larger scale ...it will be a super fun runner...I like the PanzerIII series...small..fit into some tight areas...with the shorter barrel...this one has added appeal...think you will have more fun with it than the tiger lol

Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
*hmmms* It will be servos or maybe I can locate a bashed HL or Taigen Stug with a working IR set up so I can transfer the electronics in a direct swap. The lower hull will be a Taigen so I can use their suspension and metal running gear. The rear deck will be from a Tauch Panzer and the resin kit should cover the rest. Maybe I should just go crazy and buy the Taigen Stug and go from there like I did with the Crackerbox Palace? Pricey but a lot easier in terms of making electronics work, etc. Asiatam has a much better recoil and flash as well. Thoughts...Thoughts...

Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
Not certain about the Taigen Stug...but the HL is already IR...it's produced exclusively in that mode...wouldn't be certain why.... but yes...do think it out first lol...remember my gripe about the suspension on the Taigen...it was on that Panzer III hull...luckily I figured it out...and replaced the rods with blades made for the Tamiya Tiger from J'sPainlessWolf wrote:*hmmms* It will be servos or maybe I can locate a bashed HL or Taigen Stug with a working IR set up so I can transfer the electronics in a direct swap. Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
Heyo,
I'm looking at the Tauch Panzer and the lower hull and running gear are a direct match except for part of the exhaust and the idlers. I may need to go a different route and make a mid weight runner and save a lot of the metal for the Tiger. I would need to get a 2.4 GHz setup and an IR gun and flash. Thinking again....

Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
Lucky for you Painless...you already have the new HL 2.4 TX...acquiring the new RX is easy Murphy now carries them ...and you have the Taigen 2.4 so the RX is all you need as well...as I said Sass is using the Tauch as a foundation as well for his GUP Stug F...so you can always ask him for some tips as well...I know he had an Asiatam exhaust and hull on it too...not sure of what internals he has planned for itPainlessWolf wrote:Heyo,

I'm just trying to go the the easiest route... figure I can fabricate the exhaust...The Stug G hull is workable ... and the internals should prove to be an easy switch over...Should

Kicked a goal with the finish mate, the grey is spot on. Looks just the right combo of age & fading.

Re: Stug lll Ausf B Research
Good Morning, Herman,
Thank you, my Friend. ;o) The molded on tires were the hardest thing to paint on this kit. The road wheels are small and were already assembled when I got it. Fortunately, my blundering around with flats and thinner produced the right color for the rubber. I am jonesing pretty hard to start buying parts and work on the 1/16 version of this perfect little assault gun. I'm kind of an A-B-C guy. Do the research, buy the tank and start working on it. Timing is just off since it's the Holidays already.
