Was it hard removing the old bins off the metal turret?
The new ones look great!
Glad moving the couple wasn't too tough , I have to do that on mine.

Hi mark thanks for the positive feedback, its very easy on the taigen turrets to remove the turret bin, on both the taigen metal and plastic turrets the bins are held on by two internal screws which can be accessed by removing the turret base plate and undoing the screws from inside the turret. The new bin was a resin kit from an ebay seller customparts rc. He also does a few other resin conversion kits such as opening engine covers/hatches on the tiger 1 deck lid. The resin bin with opening hatches and a brass hinge kit was approx £20 complete. yep initially trying to separate the cupola gave me a broken hatch cover so i left it but after posts left i had another go and gently tapping around the cupola seal with a light hammer broke the seal, the paint might have helped to break down or soften the original bonding. Anyway its now sorted so happy times, onto the next fix.

I bought 3 plastic cupolas and they were all glued by the same lunatic with a volume quota as each other. The effort to line up the vision slit with the barrel axis and still keep the hatch in the correct 8 oclock position would have been destructive to say the least.
The metal one arrived from Canada and the slit/hatch position was already taken care of.

This is the newer Taigen Tiger turret or the metal one. The hatch is attached in the wrong orientation but the vision slits end up in the right places when it is turned to the correct position.

It is the earlier H/L tiger turrets that have the plastic cupola which is not only oriented wrongly but has the vision slits in the wrong places. This is what you have on your other battle fatigued Tiger.

I find the easiest way to tell them apart is that the old casting does not have the discs on the end of the turret lifting trunnions.

Thanks scalawag for the feedback and the cupola info, i knew the hatch alignment in relation to the loading hatch but i didn't know about the slit positioning, so new knowledge for me. yes its the newer metal taigen turret although i had to replace the commanders hatch cover broken when trying to free cupola initially and only had a plastic spare . still managed to fit it to metal cupola ok.

Tiger, the hatch looks great, perhaps even better for you using the plastic one. Many times, I find a much higher level of definition in plastic molded parts, the exceptions being the excellent Schumo line of metal details and the brass Do-It-Yourself kits by Aber and Voyager. Your tank is looking primo.
