Dan,
I've degreased my lower hull using Isopropyl alcohol, then roughed it up with a glassfibre pen, a layer of Vallejo putty and when dry a coat of Mr Surfacer 1000. I've tested the weld by gently trying to warp the hull, no problems, so I'm quite satisfied with the bonding characteristics of this putty....

John:
Thank you. I was concerned with it's bonding characteristics. I use 91 Isopropyl alcohol as well. It's a great degreaser and has many practical applications like removing price adhesive residue. Thanks again. Your build is going quite well. You're right about research. It pays dividends. I hate doing things twice. I presume you're going to add a recoil function. Did you buy an MF 03 from the Pershing to do so? I understood the MF03 was compatable with the T 05 DMD from the sherman. I am installing my electronics and having an issue.

Dan,
I'm not going for the recoil function, as stated before, I'm very new to this branch of modelling, so all the electronics is quite scaring for me. I will build this one, as for the electronics, out of the box.
To be hounest, I'm more concerned about the detail on the outside of this model, but that's a leftover from my 1:35 side of this hobby....LOL.
BTW, if you need any form of reference on your Firefly build, let me know, I have tons of reference material on my HD.....
Grtz, John.

Finished and placed the track adjusters:
Slowly but surely the Sherman is getting into shape.....John.

Did you take a look at the Mato idlers I converted? Tamiya got the adjusters completely wrong. This is a vast improvement from stock.

Dan,
I've read your topic back and forth! So I did see the Mato idlers you did a facelift on. After inspecting the Tamiya idler mounts, I've concluded that there's a lot of work coming up!! Thanks for the heads-up...

Today I started to play with my Evergreen stock. I've noticed that the engines internal fire extinguisher was missing in action at the Tamiya model. Took some measurements, re-calculated them to 1:16 scale and started fooling around. Here's the result so far:
Hope you like it! John.

John:
Great work. Tamiya's hull leaves a lot to be desired, doesn't it?

I ordered the Plastistruct letters and numbers and all three versions of the foundery marks and numbers.
I had never seen them applied. You sold me on them.
