Tb...
Just do what we used to do with heli's or high rpm cars. Drill through the job lot.Replace with a nylock nut and bolt. It will never come off again . Dead easy to remove ,no rounded off hex bolts any more.

If you were think were do i get that size from.. Its the bolts used in the 450 size heil's..your model shop should have them. Or if you want to go smaller the 250 size heli's bolts.

Their was a post about small hardware?

I use this site- http://www.dubro.com/

http://shop.dubro.com/products/productd ... /101.0.1.1 they have 2mm bolts with a 1mm Allan head? But seriously the method I outlined does work, you need a cone head center punch.

Another option, the Impact view I posted was their installation guide to pinion gear placement, they instruct to file the shaft flat where the grub screw seats, this prevent movement, but I'm still concerned about the play? Mine did move on the motor shaft freely, but had no end play?

If the Pinions I ordered come in your welcome to try them,if it is for the meet I am willing to remove the pinions from my Tiger and mail them to you? Seriously let me know,I am shipping stuff tomorrow to other members, but it takes 7-10 days for a small package to arrive in the UK from the great state of Tennessee.

Cheers Blake & Caddyshack.

Both good ideas, although think I struggle with the small size of the damn things :-<

Who would of thought a simple motor change could be so difficult !!!

How about roughing up the motor shaft and using some super strong epoxy resin to bond the two?

Try just the section where the grub screw contacts the shaft,if that area is flat the grub screw could grip, but also use lock tight if you have any? Or super glue. The motor upgrade kit sold by rctankwars only uses lock tight, those pinions don't have the grub screw?

Or many some one at the meet can bring the right tools and a replacement grub screw? That's one benefit of the meet the experience and tools of everyone, hey you could fix it thier and then break it in? But don't loose heart,

Hi Tb...
I under stand that drilling though is not for the faint harted. So that leave Blake's meathod for you. Which will work as well. The only other thing you could do that may be makes it a little easyer.
Have the cog on the shaft with out the grub screw in. Using a very small paint brush mark a dot in side. Heat set the paint, pull the cog off. Dill a small dimple with a drill bit. Only talking 1 to 2 mm.
Then screw it all back togeather using red lock tight not the blue stuff. Red . Leave it for 24hrs and see how you get on.

One last thing Tb ...
It might be wise to get the longer stand-off gub screws..With all this putting on taking off. If it rounds then thats going to be a prob for you with the standard length. The longer screw will allow you get some pliers or such like on it to get it out.
Just a thought.

Ok found the source for my Pinions, these mate with my Asiatam gear boxes and I believe them to be 48pitch.

HELI-MAX # hmxe8010 IS THE 11TOOTH Brass pinion with grub screw, they only has one at Mid-South hobbies but with a phone call they will order as many as needed,so first check on-line guys.

They have many sizes and their may be other information. These have been in my Tiger running for aver a year, maybe two.

They work,I did have to space my motors out which are the Gruapner Speed 400race with a 2.3mm shaft their was an issue with these being 1mm or less to long, the would drag the big gear, but a small flat washer between the motor and the Gearbox housing solved that issue.

That is the best information I have, cheers Blake
