Xrad, Saxondog is correct try ETO first. Before anyone brought out a KV-1, I was trying to motorize a Phil Edwards' kit. I bought a set of Impact gearboxes from Bob, and since neither of us knew whether it would need their short or long shafts, he sold me a set of each. I never used them, until now; and it was the shorter shaft which worked best for this. In case Bob doesn't tock them anymore, you might have to contact Mitosal, as I think he handles their parts. -Mike

Xrad, You may have this address, BoB is good about answering his e-mail and has gotten back with me quickly. He is a straight guy which you may well know, Seems this shaft situation has been discussed before and might even have a thread in the archives.

Thanks Mike for the information, cheers Blake

Another thing to consider about using an Impact shaft, is that they're made to fit Tamiya drive sprockets, (with the two small flats areas). The early Panzer IV sprocket I was using is made by Asiatam, and I had to file one of the flat area deeper and longer. I also had to drill out the mounting hole in the drive sprocket a bit bigger, because the screw that comes with the Asiatam unit is 3mm, and the screw that Imact uses is the same 6mm size as Tamiya uses. I don't know if Impact makes axles to fit anything other than Tamiya, but if they don't; it's not difficult to adapt it.

i have an hl walker bulldog, i had it one week when the right metal gear box stripped . what happend to it was the bolt came out of the gear on the side where the motor is and let the gear strip. i ordered a new set of hl gear boxes from phil at rc tankwars. i redesigned these with bearing on the output shaft and used light loc tite on all bolts and used graphit powderfor lubrication.the brass bushings in the shafts for the gears seam to not wear out as fast with graphit powder. i have ran this tank for many hours on grass, gravel, sand,up hills ,over bricks, and have had no problems. thanks ricky, lubbock oddball tank society.
