found problem i went through all the cables then i switched the sound control nob from jag to tiger and hey presto it all works THANK GOD FOR THAT, now can the control nob be fixed as it was a brand new one or just throw it away and the other thing is to change rx18 board for another one that dosent sound like a kv1 just waiting for email from seller

the pots are pretty std chris not sure if you have a maplins in your area but they can be sourced fairly cheap :thumbup:

glad youve got it sorted, im sure thers a post on here about using a sound control knob from maplins by wibbly , better sound, but as of yet i cant find it

For what its worth I had the same problem with a couple of RX18's. I even sold one of them once as 'not working' thinking that it was blown, as it did exactly what yours did. What I later discovered was that there is a compatibility problem between some of the older HL tx's, the rx boards, and the crystals. Although crystals 1-3 seem to work ok with everything, the higher numbers (the newer ones) don't.

If you are using the crystals 4 or above, try swapping them for one in the 1-3 range and see if that helps. No promises, but it is cheaper than buying a new board.

If the board works in one tank but not the other, then it may well be the connection between the rx board and the RX18. The only way to establish that is to swap the boards and cables one at a time to try and isolate what is causing the problem.

some of the new RX18s are specific to the tank it was made for.
I got a new M26 Pershing with an new board, the engine and machine gun sound where different to the old standard RX18 sounds.

hi starktiger the rx18 kit i got for my tiger has a clattering sound as it drives the start up sound is ok but this is not for a tiger im just hopeing the seller can change it
