Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Update, the Jagdpanther is not moving along as I would like.DO NOT USE DULLCOAT with floor polish,or the matte varnish. Some chemical reaction and the finish turns an ugly light brown or rather gold dirty finish.I think I can still salvage this project, really at this point their is no other choice but to continue.I'm dealing with enamels, and since they are oil based I will try a little mineral spirits to a small area and see if the discoloration fades. Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Ferric Chloride PCB etcher solution will dissolve enamels, but I'm not sure what that will do to the under laying paint...
Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Thanks Mart, their is a least two coats of floor polish below the coat of dullcoat, and one more on top.I cant goof it up much worse.Blake

Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Hi Blake you got me worried now . Ive sprayed my Panther with the Klear and its as your pictures . Ive weathered my one with Tamiya acrylic paint and the Tamiya weathering sticks , pencil . I have it almost ok ish Im not 100% . Not put the varnish on just yet but if I do is thast it all sealed .
Andy
Ps Ive a Jagdpanther build in the pipeline (not yet tho) but cant decide on the model and how much I want to spend . The HL Jagdpanther seems to be the final model with the later style exhausts with top pieces on . Although it has the double drivors periscope . And on the final models I think the block should be moved thourther back and the tooling was mounted on the rear deck and pannel?

Andy, don't worry. The Tiger is fine,I sanded it yesterday and will apply a lite coat of polish, then I have a fine sifter to re-apply the baking soda, then a new coat of Schwarzgrau 39-42. The Jagdpanther is a different technique, and should not be followed as it is completely different from the method I used on the Tiger. Also the H/L Jagdpanther is the best, most detailed tank yet.The tools all come off separately, the racks can be removed with some grinding on the inside of the hull.Just remember my Jagdpanther is totally different from the Tigers paintwork. Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Hi Mate . I got my one in kit form . I bought a HL Panther G from Dave and the HL Jagdpanther top so I could swap them but I have since bought the rest of the parts for the Stock HL Jagdpanther . I can for now until I get them again use the RX18 in my Pantiger as its removable , all fitted on a board . Just need to get the metal tracks etc.
Thanks Andy
Thanks Andy
Re: Night Fighter Jagdpanther
Well Ive taken this as far as my skills and knowledge will allow, the flat dull finish seems better with this last coat of varnish. Now I will attempt some detailing around the hatches and fenders. Also maybe so more work on the back deck before adding the grill set. Then I still have the wheels, rear panel, lower hull and Gun barrel to do.To me my tanks always seem different than the pictures concerning shade and coloring.Feedback welcome mates this is the first time technique for me, going for the concrete dusty look.just lucky it did not change colors and turn purple or pink like Matt's birthday King Tiger. Cheers Blake
