I forgot to submit the video link. This is how it runs: https://youtu.be/QYyh4cYATxs

And this is what's inside:

I just stripped most RC parts out just now, for reuse. It's a nifty little tank allright but a little too fragile to run. I have the video as a souvenir :D

And just to show how small that vehicle really is:

Looks great! Really nice to see the model being built here.
What kind of fragile issues did you run into? Was it with the tracks maybe? A few people have mentioned similar problems, though I haven’t come across it myself yet.

We’re actually working on a reinforced track version that should be a lot less brittle. With the Wiesel tow coming soon, it felt like a good time to improve it. I hope to have it ready in the next couple of weeks if you’re interested!

Hey, nice to hear from you. For the other forum members: PrivateMiku is the designer of this model!

So yes, the tracks. They just snapped a couple of times while driving the tank. Print in place tracks are tricky, I know. Also, the boom for the gun elevation snapped on first (attempted) use of that servo. Granted, the filament is PLA Matte so not the strongest but still. Maybe a construction error on my part, who knows. But it's the multicolor part with the nylon thread running through ... no way I'm going to replace that part :)

Anyway, as you probably already read higher up in the thread when I introduced the model: kudos on the design work. Not just the excellent quality but especially the design choices. Truly a fun model to build. I'll be posting a 5 star rating and a couple of photos on Makerworld soon.

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!
Yeah, the print-in-place design has been quite challenging since every printer has slightly different tolerances.
We’ve also uploaded a STEP file where the links are separated, in case you want to try connecting 50 of them manually.

We’ve currently been testing the new tracks, and for smooth running it makes a huge difference. We’re at the 60th iteration now, and we also made it a bit more realistic by replacing the teeth with more accurate ones. This a small comparison between the older tracks (desert one) and the newer one (green one) https://youtu.be/WaYVpgVVhY8 (Green one also has a newer more responsive coding we still got to release)

As for the boom issue, most of the time when I’ve seen it happen, it’s because the elevation and rotation servos are wired the wrong way around. The programming for both servos also differs quite a bit. When they’re swapped, the servo can move further than expected and snap the part. It’s happened to a few people before, so we recently added a note in the manual reminding users to double-check the wiring.

And yes, the nylon is a absolute headache but am quite happy with the effect once its put toghter :) Really glad you liked it though!

This is the snowcat used in (the remake of) the movie The Thing (2011), so not a tank and not a military vehicle. It is however a tracked vehicle and it does fit in with the thread main topic: CyberBrick RC vehicles. If it's not ok to post this here, let me know.

The snowcat may not be entirely accurate to the movie version but it does have lots of nice details and design choices. I did want to bring it a little closer to the movie version so I decided to design /recreate the logo for the Norwegian expedition as seen on the sides and back of the snowcat in the movie. I found one screenshot that shows good detail albeit only partial. What's not visible I made up, but let's call it an educated guess.

Since we now had snow in Belgium for the first time this winter I took the occasion to go out and take some photos. That snowcat looks really nice ... but does not drive well in snow :) The holes in the drive sprockets fill up with snow really fast which just stops the vehicle. The snowcat in action: https://youtu.be/VRTwSjEp4Ec (inside).

Your colorful SnowCat looks like fun in the snow, staying atop rather than sinking in, as would a heavy AFV. I will be re-watching your videos. Are you going to 3D print the pretty woman in the warm coat and stocking cap? :haha:
