I just stripped most RC parts out just now, for reuse. It's a nifty little tank allright but a little too fragile to run. I have the video as a souvenir

What kind of fragile issues did you run into? Was it with the tracks maybe? A few people have mentioned similar problems, though I haven’t come across it myself yet.

We’re actually working on a reinforced track version that should be a lot less brittle. With the Wiesel tow coming soon, it felt like a good time to improve it. I hope to have it ready in the next couple of weeks if you’re interested!

So yes, the tracks. They just snapped a couple of times while driving the tank. Print in place tracks are tricky, I know. Also, the boom for the gun elevation snapped on first (attempted) use of that servo. Granted, the filament is PLA Matte so not the strongest but still. Maybe a construction error on my part, who knows. But it's the multicolor part with the nylon thread running through ... no way I'm going to replace that part



Anyway, as you probably already read higher up in the thread when I introduced the model: kudos on the design work. Not just the excellent quality but especially the design choices. Truly a fun model to build. I'll be posting a 5 star rating and a couple of photos on Makerworld soon.

Yeah, the print-in-place design has been quite challenging since every printer has slightly different tolerances.
We’ve also uploaded a STEP file where the links are separated, in case you want to try connecting 50 of them manually.

We’ve currently been testing the new tracks, and for smooth running it makes a huge difference. We’re at the 60th iteration now, and we also made it a bit more realistic by replacing the teeth with more accurate ones. As for the boom issue, most of the time when I’ve seen it happen, it’s because the elevation and rotation servos are wired the wrong way around. The programming for both servos also differs quite a bit. When they’re swapped, the servo can move further than expected and snap the part. It’s happened to a few people before, so we recently added a note in the manual reminding users to double-check the wiring.

And yes, the nylon is a absolute headache but am quite happy with the effect once its put toghter Really glad you liked it though!
