Re: [Germany 1945] Torro Jagdtiger
Work on the upper hull is going at a glacial (at least for me) pace. Basically have filled and sanded down some join lines and smoothed the down that seam line Torro had on the side where they attached the casemate. It is much more flush than the picture shows as the line is more the slightly different colour at the bottom of the seam line from the original paint and primer will hide it.
Put some cast texturing on the mantlet plate and machine gun ball which needs some very light sanding still while I wait for the new travel barrel lock and engine deck machine gun post to arrive. Will create a few minor weld lines but for such a large tank the ABS on this hull is very thin and weak and I decided against chiselling out large grooves to use putty in. Not a huge fan of them anyway as I find unless I make them oversized the primer, paint and varnish layers build up and cover up a lot of the detail which for me is aggravating work. Next step will be adding the foliage attachment loops along the top of the casement. Lower hull is much further along and I have decided the camo scheme I'm going with and it has been applied already to the front and rear lower plates

No worries on how long you take, I'm going to embrace a longer process this time round. Plus my new job isn't leaving much free time these days.Panzermechaniker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 3:07 pm Work on the upper hull is going at a glacial (at least for me) pace. Do you have any pics you can share of mending the upper hull gap? I'm on the fence but leaning towards removing the fenders on my King Tiger.
Keep it up sir

Mr Chef @Maxmekker has a Jagdtiger build here where he shows how he did the chop job. I'm glad it had already been done by the previous owner. I just had to clean up the join lines

Lower hull is finished. The base camo I am going with is laid down. Because I spray bomb I always do the lower hull first to see if I like it and if not it's easy to start with another pattern. So it's just waiting for all the weathering when the whole tank is done. This thing is enormous. I thought the KT's and Sturmtigers i've done needed a lot of paint. I had to buy yet another tin of camo putty in anticipation of painting the upper hull. Little details added were some weld lines on the front plate, the anti debris rods in the exhausts, some faux extensions to the rods holding the jack in and the reflector. Looks rough right now but some filters and washes to come to even things out

You are on your way, Panzermechaniker, with even the 'leaf shadow' dots in place. One dot has me curious: the small red dot low left, level with the jack.

If the rattle can paint is obscuring your fine details--which are mighty fine btw--you know what the solution is. Resistance is futile...you will be assimilated...

I have to agree PM. If you are pulling this off via a rattle can, I can only imagen the results you'd have when you have the control of an airbrush!ColemanCollector wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:57 pm If the rattle can paint is obscuring your fine details--which are mighty fine btw--you know what the solution is. Very nice results so far!

It's the reflector. I'll tone it down when I weather it at the end. Parts from MK Modellbau (great service from Martin I must add) arrived yesterday so I amputated the glued on barrel travel crutch/lock to make way for the functioning one. I've said this before but this is my last tank as I have to downsize move soon, possibly even to the UK so there won't be any more painting tanks so I'll stick with spray bombs on this one rather than buy an airbrushHerr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:55 pm You are on your way, Panzermechaniker, with even the 'leaf shadow' dots in place. It is a reflector, existed on many vehicles at one time, trucks, trailers, cars, bicycles, etc.
