Since you are way ahead of me in skill, I have only one suggestion: is there some way to make the AA MG rotate and pivot? Maybe it would be easy--maybe not.
Ha I have absolutely no knowledge or skill of anything electronic such as servos (I can barely solder :haha: ). The recoil and elevation have already been converted. It's previous owner is very skilled at that sort of stuff. The only thing I'm doing with the AA gun will be to eventually switch the gun from the inaccurate Taigen MG3 to an MG42. I'm surprised they used an MG42 for it as on all the other panzers and presumably even the bow gun on the Jagdtiger were MG34. Perhaps it was a supply issue. Yea I won't be touching the electronics on this, it works fine. Since the barrel elevation even was negligible with a 7% depression and 10% elevation I might modify to have the barrel mounted in it's travel lock. I have a spare to mess around with.

First thing i thought to do but unlike replacement back plates for Taigen/Torro Tigers and Panthers I can't find one that doesn't involve splashing out around $200CDN for the whole lower hull. In future I might do that just to always have spares on hand but for now it will be coming off to do work and add details so I will just do some ghetto reinforcement until I can source just the rear plate, Even where I have the tape temporarily securing it while the glue set it's quite rigid and is not warped at all. I have tanks with perfect rear plates that don't align as well as this one does

So as I mentioned my intention is to run it around all summer so not much point doing anything other than the immediate minor repairs it needed. First thing was the drive sprocket bolts were loose so they were totally tightened up with thread lock. After researching the scratch and dent damaged ones I did my ghetto reinforcements on the lower back plate. What caused most of the stressing leading to the cracks I could see were the rear mudguards so they were removed as I prefer them off anyway. Then I just used thin Evergreen sheeting randomly applied and that plate is as stiff as you can get. Left it clear where I will be removing the C hooks and replacing them with metal ones. I really wanted to ditch the jack block altogether but I think I'm stuck with it as that part of the plate is very weak and removing it could cause all sorts of problems. hideous as it might look it works. I'm not looking for it to be aesthetically pleasing in an area no one will ever see. I then moved to the front glacis which seems to be constant source of cracking on the damaged ones. It is very flimsy, so much so I'm not sure about cutting weld lines right at the front of it. Just reinforced it at the points that seem to crack on other Torro JTs again with with the Evergreen polystyrene next i got rid of the ugly Torro bulb on the mantlet and puttied it. This will be receiving casting texture anyway and mounted an Aber antenna base on the factory one by the Commander's hatch. So that's it probably until at least late August

First Jagdtiger book has arrived. Can start figuring out what camo scheme I'm going to do. Not happy that I can't do a late version though :(

Take your time and enjoy - to me this is the best part of the build...

I generally buy these for camo inspirations and this one might be the best of the series. I know there are much more scholarly and technical books out there but to kick things off I'm very happy with it

Those are useful books! I have a number of them. By the way: I see that you found the IPMS review. Next week I will be helping out at the IPMS Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin.
