Hello guys!
First, thank you for liking my figures.
But...
I AM NOT A PRO on that, there are lots and lots of guys who are way better than me!
I do what I can, and the more you practice, the better you might get...right?
Until now, I own about 100 figures or so, and a lot of 'm still waiting for a paintjob at the moment.
Most important about figures, is the detailing, especially faces.
The more detailed, the "easier" it might get
Depending on what amount you guys want to spend on figures, I always order in China.
Good prices, free shipping and nicely detailed too.
About buying in China, everybody may have their own opinion about that, but that's not what it is about in here right now, okay?
Until now I used to use matt Enamel paint from Revell and/or Humbrol, and the Tamiya XF colors.
First I go onto the World-Wide-Web, and search for German camo patterns. There are plenty of diferent patterns, in all kind of shades.
I do paint with brushes.
Also, I never prime figures befor painting BTW.
Start with a base color on the jacket, let's say some shade of brown.
Next make some spots in a random pattern, in a darker green or so.
Then take a lighter greenish color and make some spots too.
But notice to leave some of the base color brown, visible.
Next you take a toothpick (you might even put them in a glass of water for a while, so they do not suck up to much paint if you use acryllic paints) and start making little dots.
Make darker green dots on the lighter green parts, and lighter green dots on the darker spots.
Sometimes it might be not so easy, due to the folds in the clothing.
When all has dried up, I always go over it it with matt clear from Revell/Humbrol with a brush too.
The matt colors sometimes turn out being not that matt at all when dried up, so the matt clear covers it all and the problem is solved.
You can also use a spraycan, but it is more expensive and a lot of paint goes not onto the figure while spraying.
An airbrush might be an option too, I even have one too, still new in the box but never used it yet.
But, this might not help you at all right now, you guys need pics.
Well, I will make pics while painting the next guy and post them here so you can see step by step how it works.
Again, I am no pro, so it still is not perfect what I make!
The eyes....well thats always the most difficult part to do.
But we should't make it too difficult for ourselves, I deeply respect guys who can make highly detailed eyes with white and blue.
Nice when you put the figures on a tank in somekind of vitrine, and everybody can look at them form a short distance.
But in real life, when you see a person in the street who is 10-15 yards away from you, you cannot even see the white from the eyes or even if he has brown or blue eyes!
For me that is the same with my figures. They are on or around my tanks in somekind of outdoor scenery, and nobody will notice the details of there eyes!
But that is how I think about it, again I respect guys who can do that detailing, I just cannot and for me it is not realistic enough.
That's it for now, I will be back!
Ciao, Rob.
