IIRC the late idler wheels were smaller diameter and different bolt pattern.

If you read this link at the top of page 77, (3.4.1.25) it mentions in February of 1944 changing from 700mm idler wheel to 600mm idler wheel=

Certainly is. Its a very deep rabbit-hole that can quickly leave you lost and bewildered!!

The Tamiya idler wheel has a cap to make in an early version and if you don’t glue the cap on, makes it a late version.

Not sure about diameters!

Mr Chef you are absolutely right - February 1944 the change to a 600mm idler was made.

That’s good for me as mine is a mid production so I don’t need a smaller wheel

Taigen offer a late Idler. I got one for my late Tamiya Tiger project(the one I got from Ken) and its all thats required.
Diameter is smaller, and it looks so, the eye is drawn to the track shape on a late.

Had a guest today, no idea what it is. The hawks (and Bald Eagles) we have around here are a completely different color. I'm assuming a youngster without adult coloring.

It has a juvenile broadwinged hawk look to it. Not really in its normal winter range, but if your weather has been as crazy mild as Ontario's (until this past week) it might've hung around longer than usual. Great sighting. Hanging around the bird feeder looking for the inattentive?

Did my best to work the turret to the to the "final" version. Still need the cupola and an alternate loaders hatch.



Made a couple Bix inspired zimmerit tools.



Bullet splash ring on the late hull and my first attempt at zimmerit.
