Hi

Due to serious illness and recovery I did not get much done on this until lately. Next problem was my phone suffered a serious illness but it died, along with the build pics finishing it off - I know I should have backed them up.
On the positive side, it is pretty much finished now. I do need to get some decent pics of it but the weather is not good and I don't want to go out and get soaked and cold but I will try to get some when the weather is a bit better.

I have a Clark TK60 installed with a soundset from MaxMeker and it is pretty impressive when running. Has servo recoil and the rest is pretty standard Taigen \ HL. I did not want to weather it too heavily as wanted it to look like it had not seen a lot of service but I might add some later on but want to get started on something else now.

As I said, the pics are not great but will sort out at some point.

Man that turned out great. What paint color and process did you use for the wood part of the tools . Looks like you created a wood grain effect. Regards John.

Hi John

Thank you for the positive comments.

With regard to your question re the wood effects, I do have a woodgrain effect I use. I tried the various things from several brands (eg Mig, LifeColor etc) but was never happy with them so tried something different.

I primer first with Tamiya fine, them brush on a thin coat of Valejo basic flesh colour. Once this is done I draw the woodgrain on with Faber Castle Pitt Artist Fineliner Pens - usually Dark Sepia. Once this has had a while to dry I then brush slightly thinned Tamiya clear orange over the top - the more coats the darker the finish. On the barrel clening rods I then paint Meng brass ( other brands are availble :D ) on the ends after inserting some fine threaded rod or a small bolt with the head cut off to simulate the threaded end. Finally, the whole lot gets a coat of matt varnish to tone it down. You can add a tiny drop of brown paint in to tint the varnish if you want a darker more brown look but it needs to be a very very small amount.

I hope this helps. Next time I am doing this I will take pics as Ig o along if you want.

Oh Hell-yeah Mr Hound, we'd all appreciate the how-to on that woodgrain if you could.
Really nice job that KT, not often seen a Porsche/early Turret version.

That is a really slick camouflage pattern! Colourful but still understated. And ditto on the tool pics of your process. I'll take two axe handles in birdseye maple, please!

Mike.
