M36B1 attempt
Re: M36B1 attempt
Nice one. I was looking at the turret the other day and may get one, I've just started a m10 but might go for a m36 instead..

remember...it's just a plastic tank...

Re: M36B1 attempt
The turret is excellent, it would take a month of Sundays to scratch build anything close to it. It comes complete with servo elevation and recoil, so no faffing about with that either. My only comment would be that there is a slight bit of play in the barrel, needs a thin bit of sleeving inside the mantlet, and I'll fit a muzzle brake, but apart from that it's all good. The Heng Long turret ring all lines up and just needs screwing to the underside of the turret.
This has got to be the easiest conversion anyone could do, and doesn't cost the earth either.

Re: M36B1 attempt
Pulled this one off the shelf and started doing the open turret internals, I am going to try and cover up the servo, and I have a few ammo crates etc that can go in there. In order to make the crew fit, Darth Stilton has been replaced by his younger brother, Stumpy Stilton...

Made a more scale breech to cover up the Mato ironmongery. Needs sanding but it will do the job.

Re: M36B1 attempt
Cooler still, Mato stuck the elevation servo at the back of the turret with the arm sticking skywards, and then secured it by sawing off the moulded servo mounts and using two screws/locknuts. It looked pretty messy.
I removed the screws/locknuts, took the arm off the servo and pointed it downwards, and then re-attached it with the barrel level. I will need to adjust this once I have it hooked up to a board, as it will self centre.
I am now making a housing for the servo with a lid on it, and will find some way of clamping it all to the turret floor. I won't be using the elevation anyway, but at least everything will now be out of sight, and there will be no sign that there are two servo's in the turret.

Re: M36B1 attempt
There we go, a nice clean inside to a Mato M36 turret. Will do some shell casings after I have figured out how to nail the servo down.
