Personally I am hoping they re-release the Tiger but in the "Late" version, using the steel road wheels.. I have a few Tigers now, one is unassembled and I have a steel wheel conversion for it, then I have to update the hull etc. Those upgrades are expensive (sometimes) and are labor intensive, I cannot tell you the expense in beer alone to do a custom tank, I am sure everyone already knows :haha: I guess I should be thankful they have a good base to start with, I am... I do wish though that they would release something truly new, like the Centurion, Merkava, M10 or even a Matilda II.... I also wish they would keep the DMD and multi function units, but scale them down smaller and accept servos (micros) A micro servo would work better in some of the turrets then those motors with their gear systems (recoil unit/ barrel lift assy.)

Oh well, I guess waiting is part of the game... I have a 3-d printer now, maybe I will start making some custom parts for my tanks!

Cheers!
Can't help but agree with everything you've said Eastern...I'm just surprised...Tamiya one of the most progressive model companies in the world...hasn't diversified more to include it's 1/16 rc models...they already hold permissions for many of the tanks you mentioned as well as others..seems if they wanted to...they could leave the competition in the dust...unfortunately it's the opposite

Happy Holidays Eastern

As said before, it comes down to licensing. A 1:35 license is not the same as a 1:16 license. A likeness rights license is not the same as 'artistic interpretation' which is probably how HL get away with it.

I think it's more about R&D....they would have to figure out how to make a tank run...it's so much easier to make a static model that one that actually has to function..as well as be durable

I don't think they have to worry about how to make one run or make it durable. But like it or not, why they don't do some tanks is down to licensing.

Thanks, hope you have a very Merry Christmas! That goes out to all our friends on this forum!!!

I think maybe,,,that is a "Big" maybe that Tamiya sees how successful that game WOT is and does start really applying their focus to the 1/16 tanks. there is definitely a real market out there..

Cheers!
HEY THERE EASTERN! BEST OF WISHES TO YOU AND YOURS as well

I wouldn't worry too much about the Tiger..it'll come back I'm sure of it...it's a top seller for Tamiya...it's a good possibility that they have such a large inventory of some of their other 1/16th Rcs warehoused...that it's their attempt to lessen that before bringing it back ;)

FYI AAF have said that the Tiger is not discontinued. Motto of the story here is if in doubt check the manufacturer, not the reseller.

That's really good to know, thanks for investigating this billpe.
I did think that it sounded dubious as the Tiger is probably there biggest seller what with it been the most famous tank in history.
