They certainly do run slower than the standard gearboxes Herman. I would say it is closer to scale speed. :thumb up:

I don't like my tanks to run too fast, they need a little bit of speed to battle with them, but I prefer a scale look. These gearboxes are just the job for that.

One last quiz, my Tiger can do a dounut on the spot................with the reduction gear set, does this super-spin feature diminish ?
Or, is it more of an electronic control system issue ?

The super spin is slowed down as well, but not to what I would call a scale speed. I think super spin or neutral turning was relatively new idea during WWII, and most tanks could not neutral turn. Those that could, like the Tiger I & II would have turned quite slowly I would think as it would put a lot of stress through the transmission.

I also use the IBU2 control board in my tanks now and this gives full control over the neutral turn speed, right down to 0 for those tanks without it.
The IBU2 pro version also has a "real speed" feature which allows you to set the maximum speed of the tank to a more realistic level, for those that like scale speeds. That said with the black steel low ratio gearboxes I don't use the "real speed" feature as the tanks run at a good speed with these boxes anyway.

I'm gonna go with the 3.1 transmissions from MATO they say they're perfect for the metal upgrades and metal hull. I have upgraded to a 5100 battery from the stock 1200 so I can run the tank for almost 4 hours non stop before it starts to show any signs of slowing down or having issues.

I want the metal hull because I'm tired of having problems with the dang thing. If I get it and the transmissions and I still have problems with it you'll be able to find it in the for sale section as I'm not going to keep throwing money at this thing if it does no good. Whats the point? A nice mantel piece to look at? NO THANKS! I got a tank cause I thought it would be able to go anywhere.

I totally agree Jack...it's a tank ...it should be able to traverse "scale" obstacles ...even knock stuff down... reason (though I did read the manual) I take my tanks through a hell torture test course ...with wide set metal tracks on my Jagd... the stock battery just doesn't have enough power... switched to Lipo... now she will rip through and over just about everything ...though I think on that one I am going to solder the final drive bushings like I told you to do...it's actually Micheal C's idea...didn't think I needed to do it...but after hearing your story ...it seems logical to do it

Ok so I'm checking out the Taigen 4.1 transmission and they're only over seas which means double the price for shipping! RATS! Guess I have no choice though.

Quick update. My hull and transmissions are on the way, yesterday I picked up a Badger airbrush and some paint. Stay tuned for pics when ever the parts all get here.
