It will drive and the turret moves but that is it. also no smoke. What we have noticed is that where the volume knob should be there is just a hole

Sounds off does that. On the controller bottom right on the front is there a plug in crystal or a switch?

In that case you've got an old version with out smoke and sound.

Was it sold as a smoke and sound version?

I guess that explains the price difference and the low cost of the Tiger. The box was one of the older ones too actually. The gun should still work though. Is the gun switch off on the cupola ?

Oh I feel mega stupid hahaha. It was sent back today with the courier they sent out :S I think I'm going to receive a very embarrassing call. At some point I pln on upgrading to a metal gearbox. What is the best kind to get for my Bulldog?

If your Bulldog is new it might well have metal gearboxes already. I know mine I got just a couple of week ago from Hobby Power and although the box doesn't say when I opened up the tank it had the steel gears already.

On the Bulldog and Pershing I wouldn't recommend low ratio gearboxes. Basically because the drive sprocket is already small in diameter it makes the tank slow to start with. I prefer to upgrade the motors to faster ones as the stock HL motors are only about 10,500rpm. On my pershing I put in Graupner 400 Speed 7.2v motors which are 15,000rpm so effectively 50% faster already. The Bulldog i've some JP speed 400 motors which are 17,000rpm which is nearly 70% faster but yet to fit.

Ok what will give it more power to climb things? will metal tracks work?

I've got plans for mine haha I'm going to buy a replacement top half (incase i mess it up) I'm then going to chop out the 1single working light and the 4fake lights then replace them with working lights like THESE. Do you think the RX18 will handle the extra lights? and did they have rear lights if so where and how many?

I'm not really looking to make a replica lol just something cool

Finally are there people who you can send the tank to and have it painted?
